Ok, don't try and get at me for double posting, as the other one is about to expire and this is currys a reserve and collect deal. Much credit has to go to Bookie for finding the original one (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/toshiba-bdx2100-blu-ray-player-with/745580?page=4), which has now unfortunately gone up to £99.99, which is still a good deal.

This is a reserve-and-collect only deal, but I looked and there were loads in all locations near me, so shouldn't be too much of a problem to find.

As before, a very good price, a great saving if you like LoveFilm!

Edit: Now 89.99 - price changed. Thanks to davestavros. Home delivery available at this price

Wow! Anyone know what package the 12 month Lovefilm sub will be (i.e. 3disks at any time, etc)? If it is one of the higher packages it'd be worth FAR FAR FAR more than the price for this... for me, since I regularly subscribe anyway, it'd be like a cut-price subscription with an amazing free gift thrown in! Deal? Super hot!

4 discs a month = the 7.99 package

I think you can pay a bit towards a better package but if someone has done this can they advise

Also, it did say I could download 4 hours but I don't know if this is free as one page says it is, another for my account does not mention it
#5
Hmm, every time I try and buy this it rejects my cards, both credit and debit, anyone else get that?
#6
is this a good blu-ray player

If you look around they are forever giving away free X months membership. They sent me so many free membership codes it actually started to bug me. I used them for around 6months and never spent a penny, I stopped using it and it was free........... take what you will from that

I joined in the dark ages and got a free DVD player, the only thing worse than the player was the fact it didn't even work and they wanted me to pay to return it. It went in the bin with their customer services.

I use them and find them quite good (not been able to continually find free codes myself). I also took out this deal (but through another retailer) which effectively gave me a free player.... only downside is that I think bluray is a bit of a con; I can't really seee any difference on a 42" plasms compared to a good dvd transfer
#10
whereabouts does it mention the lovefilm deal ?

Buy the "planet earth" bbc blu-ray then come back and say there is not difference! Is your plasma "full hd" or "hd ready"? "full HD" means 1080 vertical pixels instead of the 720 in "hd ready". Both HD formats are far superior to dvd, though, which offers something like 480 vertical pixels if I remember correctly.

Has anyone got this player. I have read some forums that say that the MKV support is so limited that it is pointless. Has anyone tried it with the shows on EZTV or similar?

I also can not see where it mentions Lovefilm on the website

I just got my registration details back from toshiba/lovefilm. I called to ask about paying the difference ot upgrade the package but the lady I spoke to said you can only take the £7.99. This seems a bit silly to me as they are just turning money away I'm willing to spend.

If anyone can confirm otherwise. Please do let me know how you did it.

Thanks!

As far as I know there's a sticker inside the box.
Official promotion page here
#18
There is nothing on the outside of the box whatsoever, there is a sticker that sits on top of the Blu Ray player itself which refers to the promotion but nothing else.
#19
I bought this from PCworld last week at the same price. I was a bit sceptical of the Lovefilm deal and I couldn't find any mention of it in the store or on their website (although it is on Toshiba's site).

However, inside the box was a cardboard cutaway with all the details - so I've sent off (still waiting return).

The only thing to note is: you MUST return the application within 7 days of purchase. So, if you can collect instore - then no problem. If you have it delivered, you run the risk that there's not much (if any) time left, after delivery, before it expires!!!!!
#20
Yes, they are extremely strict and you have to send proof of ID etc as well. I'm yet to receive my code, hopefully it will come in the next few days.

To be honest I only bought this player for the Lovefilm promotion, I would have bought the Sony BDP-370 instead otherwise!
#21
bought this player myself a few weeks ago for the promotion. I've only watched one Blu Ray on it so far but that did look better in my opinion. It's not wireless or anything but if you are just looking for a bog standard Blu Ray then I would recommend it - especially as it comes with the free 12 month subscription.

To get the free subscription you have to register within 7 days of purchasing the player, then send off the origianl receipt, proof of age (over 18's only I think- I sent a phtocopied drivers license and that was fine), as well as a certificate of registraion that you print out while registering. Took a few weeks to get the code back but it did come. Also, don't worry if the Post Office say that the postcode is incorrect- I was told that but it still got there. Had some trouble adding the free 12 months to my account, but the Lovefilm customer services were really helpful and sorted it within 2 days.

Hope this helps any people who are undecided. If you follow the instructions, then this is a really good deal for anyone looking to get a Blu Ray.
(It is the 7.99, 4 discs per month package- just to confirm).

Is it possible to do this if you are already with Lovefilm. or would I have to cancel and sign up again? Would that be acceptable or is the Lovefilm deal to brand new customers only?
#23
So... does anyone have any 3+ month Lovefilm codes? :)

I was already a member and it worked for me. I had to contact customer services to add it on but it was all done within a couple of days.

So once I have received my code from them I need to ring them up (not do it online as this is not possible) and they will add the 12 months 4 disc subription to my account, thus paying £0 a month for 12 months- rather than my existing subscription which is 2 discs a month for £3.99.

Is that correct? Thanks in advance

When I got my code, I first of all tried using the web address that is inside the Blu Ray box. When that didn't work I just emailed customer services and told them what was happening. After a couple of emails, they manually added my subscription and my next payment date now shows as October 2011. (I emailed them before I bought the Blu Ray player though just to check that it was open to existing customers. I also changed my package to the 7.99 4 disc a month package just before I tried the code). Hope this helps.

ok I will rent and see ; but then its only the odd bluray that appears different so I stand by what I said before (yes my plasma suports the full 1920 x 1080 resolution and I selected this mode on the tosh bluray player....)

If you sit and watch TV from the average 8 to 10ft away you will not notice any difference between 1080p and 720p unless you have at least a 47' or above set. You would need to sit pretty close to see the difference under that size.

My guess is you have an LCD as i also have a plasma (Panny) and a good DVD is almost as good as HD.

Thanks. I rang lovefilm and they said I can add the code for the 12 months free when I get it no problem as an existing customer, and if I struggled through the website I could do it over the phone. I have the very helpful ladies name and phone number to do so/if I have any problems.

Reserved at my local store, and heat added. Thanks OP. Seems a steal when the lovefilm rental is worth £95.88 alone, and I just want at least a basic Blu-ray player for the bedroom.

(I have a panny plasma only 42" ) So you are in effect saying that unless you have at least a 47' or above set (or not a great flatscreen TV) then bluray is a little pointless ? or one likes sitting abnormally close to the TV..... ok I see you are saying there would no difference between 720p & 1080p unless as you say.......

I picked up mine today. its not a voucher as such it just says visit the detailed website for more info. then you do follow the instructions and fill in the serial number which is on the base of the unit.

This deal deserves to be hotter!

Blu ray is not pointless. I have the 37' Panny Plasma 720p and i am saying you will not notice the difference in picture between our 2 tv's when viewing Blu ray unless you sit close. But i also know that when you watch a good DVD on your 42' Plasma the picture quality is outstanding? So good that Blu ray is not a huge difference like it is on an LCD.

I haven't noticed it when watching a film - but then I haven't really listened for it. It makes a bit of a noise when you first put the disk that sounds a bit dodgy, but then it is ok from memory.
#39
Mine is noisey briefly when starting up but it is absolutely silent when watching a DVD/Blu Ray.

thank you ,ada06 and tony , its a deal clincher !!!
