Also note this is not made by Toshiba... they have simply put their name on it...

Google Digilife DDV-Z530 which is the unbranded version.

looks similar too my praktica.

low optical zoom but HOT for the price

good price for a cheap camcorder but dont expect amazing quality for this price. You need to spend £350+ for a good hd camcorder really.
#12
or £280 if you got the QVC deal!

WTF? That link added the camcorder straight into the basket!
Did the OP do that deliberately or is it a new HUKD "feature"?
#14
i´ll just leave you a link of a video review of this "fantastic HD Cam" LOL

It's simply part of HUKD's referal scheme - nothing to do with the OP.

That's nasty. It's good that HKUD get referrals but adding items directly into the shopping basket is going too far.

i have one of these, bought it about a year ago ( well i say i bought it but i got it free when bought my laptop via cash back ).
the battery will last around 45 minutes to an hour, i got replacement batteries for around £7 each, i also used a class 6 16gb memory card with it which gives you nearly 1hr 40 mins of recording time, only disappointment it that the microphone can pick up you breathing and is not very good if you are trying to record someone who is standing about 7 feet away as it tends to pick up more of the surrounding noise rather then them talking, only other let down is that it has no lens cap so a camera bag is a must.
Apart from that this camera is well worth the money....voted hot

Agreeded, could be worse, could be a link to amazon one click!

Not that I am that bothered but QVC had the closely related 1080p "S10" for £125 a couple of days ago. It's back up to £145 now, but looks slightly better to me.

Sorry bout that  .

I used the direct link after I added it to my basket, didn't know it would do that.
Very odd indeed.
EDIT: Fixed now.

I've seen that, and the guy is a complete moron. That's the only bad review I've seen fot this camcorder, while everyone else seems quite pleased with it.

probably ok for home video if you are viewing it on a pc but dont expect too much from it. The minimum requirement I would say for anything to show on your tv would be to require a 3CCD lens. Im also pretty sceptical if im honest about any camera that uses SD cards for HD video given that 30 minutes of video from a DV tape from my cannon xm2's is around 9gb and that is not even HD.

Ive no idea what Toshiba are like as regards making digital video cameras but generally if you are looking for a new camcorder I dont think you can go far wrong with Panasonic, Sony or Cannon and personally I would just stick with those 3 but thats just me...

There are some very good HD camcorders with single ccd (but not this one)3 ccd is overkill for a consumer camcorder 3 ccd is for pro or semi pro . Is the CANON HV30 not good enough to show on TV its single ccd (will look loads better than your cannon xm2 on hd tv)? and many more other 1 ccd camcorders are just as good but agree with you best to stick with cannon sony panasonic as this one looks like cheap Chinese ebay camcorder with toshiba name on
