What a brilliant price for a HD camera. These have been on here before for way more than this. They're not made by Toshiba, but re-branded to Toshiba, but the reviews are very good and at this price, it's almost a holiday disposable camcorder!! ;-)

Thanks stefor :) The look of it is quite nice for the price too

whats the battery life like?

also whats the maximum storage card you could put in it?

Rebranded chinese import - poor quality - I couldn't find many good reviews - the user comments at the end of this 'positive' review are dire http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2008/10/07/camcorder-group-test-part-3-toshiba-cami

I can't understand why this is so hot - the last Camileo deal plunged to -50+ and that was for a model that at least took very good HD video.

Yep several user reviews say the same.

Edit: To be fair this is cheap for any sort of camcorder - so if you're still camera or mobile doesn't take video this might suit you.

How annoying is that dude in the youtube review.
Good price though, still. Althought the audio? It did sound pretty crap.
#13
Very good price, seems to be dropping all the time, hot
#14
You get what you pay for (it's crap)
#15
Ok, so we've established that it's parp.

Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap digital camcorder.

We're expecting our first child soon and I'd love something to capture some of his 'firsts'. Budget is tight for obvious reasons!
#16
tbh the audio on ashens review sounded terrible....on other video's on youtube the audio sounded fine and not like you was partially deaf like the ashens review.....

I think we're gonna go for the H20 version.
#17
Seems a good price but not very good reviews.
#18
There is a firmware update available for this from Toshiba which improves things quite a bit, there's another review on Youtube here :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBOuPREDVIA

Why a manufacturer would release a product with such poor firmware is beyond me...

They must have been very close to the mic! When I recorded that review I was just speaking normally, not far from the camera, and it hardly picked up anything - as you can hear. I also discovered later that it doesn't even take footage at HD resolutions, but upscales it via software internally. As alluded to earlier in this thread, it's a nasty, cheap re-brand.

:o is that the real ashens :o

i think i'm a bit starstruck :)

popstation etc reviews are friggin great lol :)

lol changed it jeff :)

DONT BUY IT.

If your getting a HD camcorder then buy a decent one. This will be crap.

BUT, if you want an affordable one get a flip mino HD, they are much better

same price at amazon

Where did you see this?

Personally I'm enjoying out H20 version, it's obviously not the greatest ever camcorder but considering the tiny price (I got it @ £150 at Tesco Direct) I reckon it's very impressive - and I'm not worried about taking it away on holiday shortly
(which I might be if it were an expensive super-duper one).
It also takes nice high res stills.

If there's a new firmware out for it and it improves matters further then I'd be very grateful if you'd point me in the right direction.

(I've looked on the Toshiba website but I didn't see it.)

These are £80 + VAT in the latest Makro mail....
#28
I really like the Kodak Zi6 if that's any help, not the same kind of camera but the quality for its size is fantastic.

Thanks Gez777,

I have this camera, had it about 6 months. I have had no audio problems. But might be worth the update to tweek the settings.

It's a very basic camera but it still does the few jobs I need it for. Don't know why people are moaning! You will not find many camera that can offer this kind of spec for price.
