seems like an absolute bargain to me, HD recorders are usually a lot more

have some heat
#2
these small HD camcorders are brill only downside is the sound quality
#3
I voted hot, though the shape looks a bit awkward to hold to me and most reviews say this is true. Still for something to take out in your pocket and capture half decent footage for youtube it seems pretty good. As usual with these budget camcorders you need a lot of light to get a half usable video.

good price....I think....wonder what the quality of HD is like

Same price in Toys-R-Us for those that can't get it in store.

Apparently image stabalisation only works in 720p mode and the indoor performance is a bit 'meh'.

Lots of videos on Youtube

Not voted either way as I bought one of the argos Hitachi 545e cameras 2 weeks ago (similar spec but with 5x Optical zoom) for 119. The Toshiba has got hdmi though.

The p10 is £99 in Toys R Us not the s10, checked in store today.

Good spot - The difference being the S10 is the slimmer one, but has a smaller lens as a result.

Still around :)

Nah, they're around this price now like the Kodak Zi6 (can be found around £80 - £100, records to SD card too).

nooooo!!!!!

this is just my opinion btw.

if you want a good hd camcorder, crisp quality etc then your going to need to spend a few hundred, the top sony camcorders cost up to £900. but there are plenty of great ones in the £400-£600 range too.

if you want something like the deal here, a cheap camcorder dont go for stuff like this. instead a flip mino HD is much better. its easier to use, transport video from and only costs a bit more.
#12
If you want a good TV you need to spend £600 IMO but you can get decent basic ones for £100. For £100 you can't go far wrong between this and the Zi6.

I got the pro version of this, pic quality is excellent, sound is a bit naff tho.. as in very quiet, but hey i only paid £80 for the refurb with 4gb card and extra battery,
When playing back on 100" hidef, it is pixel perfect :)
great piece of kit especially for the price

Not too bad but also not too good. These little pocket camcorders are fine if you want a bit of film for say the likes of you tube etc, but you wouldnt want to record an important event on one as the picture frame rate is poor (compared to "proper" camcorders) and the end video ends up a little jerky (plus sound quality is poor too)....to sum up, this type of machine is good for grandmas or kids, as its simple to use.
#16
can u plug in another mic?

Barg. at £100.

Sounding like a stuck record here, but the Zi6 does 30FPS AND 60FPS with no sweat so the frame rate is top notch. Give it a go!

AG55 (above) is missing the point ! these budget camcorders are aimed at budget buyers. everyone knows the best 1080 hd cams are £500+ & that you get what you pay for. i have one of these & am delighted with the outdoor quality. however indoor filming resolution drops & low light is poor. but most -if not all budget cams are like this. stills are very good shooting at 5-7mp. zoom is limited, stability filming at 720p only & sd cards are needed. i bring this on my short vacations & couldn't ask for better value exterior filming at this price !! for those budget filmers looking to make the leap from standard to hi def video this comes highly recommended at just £100. just remember that a full 1080 hd tv/monitor shows best results.

i understand its for budget buyers, but i suggested a flip mino hd instead.

My mini dv camcorder is 5yrs old now its a slim jvc cost around £700 at the time - my question is would one of these be as good visually ?
#22
So this camera won't be anygood for filming homemade porn???
#23
TBH I haven't come across one HD cam decent at filming inside.

Had a £400 Panasonic SD9 earlier in the year but returned it simply because outside it looked great, come inside (where 90% of the time you use it, eg filming your kids playing etc) it sucked ****.

Prolly because of the sensors they use to give the image with. Which IIRC is intoperolated (or however its spelt) so the sensors 'guess' at the pixcels between...

I got an Hitach DZ-HV564E in Comet a few months ago for £120, which is probably the same (1080p, SD card, built in torch, nice ergonomic shape).

I'd totally recommend the Hitachi, it has incredible picture quality, outside in decent light it's nice and crisp, sharp focus, I was astounded at the cost. Inside, it still works great, light performance comparable to any lower cost camcorder, as it's not got too tiny a lens (the bigger the lens, the easier it is to make, as well as more light getting in), and the built in torch does improve things. In the lower light though autofocus tends to wander and not work so well. The only real issue is the sound, it records a lot of white noise and actual sounds quiet.

I suggest searching YouTube, it has sample videos from people for the Hitachi, andI assume the Toshiba too :)
