One thing's for certain: as a pioneer of the DVD phenomenon, Toshiba knows how to pack impressive performance into it's products.

The SD-260 DVD player features an ultra slim-line design and incorporates PAL progressive scan, DivX playback and component video outputs. In addition, MP3 playback and a JPEG picture viewer come as standard.

If you are loooking for a feature packed DVD player at a bargain price, the SD260E is exactly what you need.

Playback: CD / CD-R / CD-RW, VCD / SVCD, DVD Video, DVD-R, JPEG photo viewer, MP3, DivX
3D virtual surround sound
Dolby Digital compatible
DTS compatible
Enhanced audio mode
PAL progressive scan
Icon on-screen display
Slow motion
Variable zoom

looking around this seems to be about the standard market price.
It is 34.99 at Currys/Comet (offline so no delivery charge). And I am not convinced that this player is actually any good. I didn't manage to find any region hack for it. Also it seems to be picky about DVD-Rs and CD-Rs (even label on box says so).
I don't think this player does packed bitstream which most XVID encodings are nowadays.
See here for info re: packed bitstream files.
