I'd be interested in these windows 8.1 tablets if i knew they were going to be updated to Windows 10 at a later date for free.(_;)

Personaly, I would get a lynx. Played with both and lynx seemed much better

Linx 7 has double the storage (32GB). Cracking bits of kit aside from the hazy screen...

This Toshiba is overpriced

Look how fat this is, go with the Linx 7 or if you are very lucky you might find the Linx 8 near this price. Not voted ether way as it still appears to be cheap.

Waiting for the Linx 8 to come down a little

Just buy it from Very (like I just did) for £69 using a £30 off a £60 spend voucher code. Also the possibility of 7% Quidco.

No one thus far. I think that guy is just miss-interpreting the Lumia update *promise* made by one of the Microsoft/Nokia care people in the UK.
I wouldn't say the Lumia update to 10 is an absolute certainty...though it would be madness for them not to. In the desktop space though, Microsoft don't need to provide a free update. It would be a very nice goodwill gesture....but Windows 8.1 is a great OS anyway.

Unless for the reason to get everyone off Windows 7 for an eco-system boost, there's absolutely no reason for a free upgrade.

Converging the Windows stores (Windows 10, Windows Phone & Xbox) should be the shot in the arm the entire platform needs. I already can't see a purpose for Android tablet devices. iPad's still have the highest quality apps, so there is a place for them for sure. But Windows will surely dominate Android tablets in due course. No license fees for OEM's, no royalty payments (ala Android OEM's to Microsoft!), and free Office 365 for a year along with 1TB of OneDrive.
Perhaps my long standing support for Windows Phone (or should I say, Nokia!) & Windows more generally will finally pay dividends :)

If Intel do it right, all Windows mobile devices will run x86 and make things much nicer :)

I would get a windows phone and tablet but the play store is just far too useful to useful to not have in terms of everyday use, and the majority of apps are practically free ( windows users agree). Since I got my nexus 2 years ago my PC is used maybe once a week and my sat nav is completely unused. If you can't see a use for android it's because you haven't got it or you're not in the age group it's aimed at. Even TV's and stereos are android compatible now. Google have dominated the market wiping the floor even with apple and I doubt they are about to let that change.
