To my utter disbelief I saw this in amongst the plethora of Blu Ray players:
It was the last one mind you, but at £50 - a total bargain!!

This was at PC World Charlton - but the manager told me they are having a clear out (hence the sale) and there might be some in other stores for about the same price.

has been like this since the demise of HD, all different conditions and prices and probably a handful left across the country

DSG withdrew all stock of HD-DVD players from their stores in March (rather than sell them off), so I'm suprised that one was there at all.

They must have lost this one in the stock room.

Unlikely to be any stock elsewhere.

there's been a surprise rise of interested in standalone players due to the movies being £2.99 a pop and the same quality as Blu Ray.

Still - if you're in PC World - worth a look out: but I wouldnt make a special trip unless you've called them first. Guess I was lucky.

But the EP10 has never been this cheap.

Even now its virtually impossible to get one for under £100.

cool - then I got a bargain: must say, I am v impressed with it: I still think Casino Royale and Shooter looked better on Blu Ray, but it is a vast improvement over the 360HDDVD which didnt look quite this sharp.

no - but I'm merely making the point that they looked better than some HD DVD's - Batman Begins for instance: but I have to admit the trains sequence in The Prestige did look rather good.. (Miami Vice looks dreadful!!!).

It is an irrelevant point then. There are probably some HD-DVD films that look better than some BR films just like some DVD's look better than some other DVD's.
