It's worth mentioning that on the other post (overclockers.co.uk) you also get 2 free HD DVDs from Toshiba making it a better value deal altogether. However the promotion might be open to all who buy this player throughout August - someone need to verify that.

I'm gonna wait until the next gen comes down in price after reading mixed reviews. The HD-E1's start-up time of about 35 seconds to boot up and another 25 seconds to load a HD DVD title would just drive me up the wall.

That promotion is open to anyone:-

Does say it has to be bought from a Toshiba Authorised Reseller though (not sure if that includes Play.com?)

Yes, the 2 free hd dvds works with play.com. It is open to any proper company that sells a UK version Toshiba HD dvd player, which is just about every company except companies like Pixmania which sell the french version.

Thats with the 360 HD DVD player isn't it ?
I'd buy the Tosh player in a flash if it was multi-region for SD DVD playback

Woah the prices of those are really dropping - i wouldnt be suprised to see HD-DVD players for £99 at christmas or new year

Could very well shift the sales of hd-dvd although im still a fan of blu ray if only for the cool cases :D
