So people who don't have HD ready equipment shouldn't consider buying a HD DVD player that can also play Standard DVD's if it's priced £19 or above? They should spend £270 on a blue ray player instead:whistling:

Got to admit the HD-EP30 is a much better deal though IMHO, anybody who needs a good quality DVD player should consider the one posted here. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/155875/toshiba-hd-ep30-hdmi-upscaling-dvd-/

I linked that one in my OP, I only pointed this one out as another option, as both players have been reduced.

-97 ouch!! Doesn't deserve to be - this is £20 cheaper than Amazon. If you want the EP35 and not the EP30 then this is hot

Thanks for the post JB - voting hot.

This is the player to go for if you want ANALOGUE 5.1 OUTPUTS. This, as far as I am concerned is the only diffrence between the EP30 and 35. Of course critics say there exists a minor PQ improvement when upscaling SD DVDS on the 35, compared with the still very impressive 30's PQ. I doubt it is noticeable, though. Just annoying, because I am one of the people (few, I guess) that actually wants/needs analogue surround outputs.

Hi there - this is a great machine for hddvd AND dvd but it hasn't been able to be made multiregion until now.. over on dtvforum.info there is a chap (hddvduser) who is selling the firmware if anyone is interested. All the best - berth :)

PS There are some great deals on just now for hddvds, I'd say go for it!:)
