[FONT="Verdana"]I can't see the exact specific model (L300 series has a couple of options) but here's a review from CNET UK on it if it helps people out.

[FONT="Verdana"]Right I've checked out the Carphone Warehouse link and according to the model number listed its the Satellite L300-149 series, which comes with the following technical specification from Toshiba UK's website - you'll want to double-check that with Carphone Warehouse but its a not bad spec as a 'desktop replacement' IMHO.

Apologies the formatting went a bit when I posted it in below and I need to get back to work.

If I remember my facts correctly this one is the Dual core you've mentioned, from the one we had in the store I work in... But by all means return it under the DSR if I'm wrong!

I have been looking a good deal on a laptop for my girlfriend, mainly using it for Internet Browsing and saving Pictures, Documents, Etc Etc - Guess this is a steal?

It is in store definitely as I sold one to a customer of mine today, however not all stores have stock of them available to take away, they usually have to be shipped in from the central warehouse which takes 1-2 days.

Should hopefully be, I was rather amazed when I discovered it in work, I've not seen CPW have many bargains for a while! Hence the need to share the find! Plus there were several hundred units available earlier on so shouldn't be too limited on availability.

[FONT="Verdana"]It appears to be a "Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2370" quoting the technical specifications off of the Toshiba UK website...not bad IMHO but it depends on what your really needing and how much you can afford, especially these days.

true true... well.. if anyone wants my opinion on this laptop i'd say take all the **** programs that come with it straight off, (maybe install XP) and it probs comes with bulldog AV or some other thing like that but put this on instead:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
and get this for video playback:

have fun! good night guys!

my friend has a pentium dual core 2.0ghz and it pretty much runs slower than my dell mini 9 netbook.

A 2GHz Pentium dual-core is so much faster than the Atom in the Mini 9 that they aren’t even in the same league. In some cases it will be 3 or 4 times quicker and I can’t imagine the CPU itself is slower in any situation.

I have an Atom in the NetBook I’m writing this on and even for light usage I notice that it’s slower than a Core 2 Duo derived chip but it’s still acceptable for me as I don’t do anything challenging on this machine.

my mini 9 is running XPlite with nod 32 and is on the internet from power on in about 20/25seconds

my friends laptop will take a couple of minutes atleast with vista premium + all the bloatware that comes with it. even my desktop with a 2.4ghz quadcore processor takes a while to start up.

obviously complex tasks the mini 9 will get out perfromed but really how many people here will be doing any video editing on this machine? and even if they did they would be sorely dissapointed with the performance.

on a day to day basis most people surf the net or type a couple of word documents or emails... both of which the performance comparison between the netbook and the laptop are negligible... the start up time is the most noticible thing and the netbook is miles ahead.

(before you mention it yes i know the bios checks has alot to do with the speedy start up)

I have to agree, imranmaz you do not know what you are talking about ... the Atom is bearable for OS and basic application operation, but you throw anything more at it and it chugs!

Not the case with any of the intel dual core technology

lol i hope you are speaking from experience. if you have bought this laptop then you will see what i mean pretty soon. the difference between a pentium dual core and a core 2 duo is massive... and the pentums are only one level above a celeron.

point is this has vista premuim on it and will most likely come with bloatware slowing the computer down. if it is maintined well and streamlined and maybe running XP if you can be bothered then it will be a great improvement to out the box.

anyways i cant be bothered to argue as i dont really care, good night
