It's on the first page of the website?
Are Bennetts a reputable Co.?

EDIT: Sack that - no Norn Iron delivery - shafted again.

Never actually used them, but they have been around for years.

Extra 4% cashback from www.topcashback.co.uk
#5
I used them for a washing machine a few years ago and had no problems.

Yes indeed. I personally bought one of these.
BTW Bennetts offer freephone customer service and very reliable company, at least in my experience. HP online is known to be problematic with timely deliveries and after order customer service while with bennetts you could take the item to your local store and get it sorted.
Toshiba is a solid laptop and comes with higher spec/speed core 2duo CPU, bigger HDD 250GB, webcam (a must), international warranty etc.

Then why is it so cold???
#9
Any particular reason why this one is so cold and the HP is so hot? This one seems better.

Most of this forum seem to dislike Toshiba - nothing new. They just do not like it and do not perceive Tosh as a reputable manufacturer. That's why I do not post laptop deals anymore.I have got 2 Toshibas (Satellite Pro and I just bought a fantastic Tecra, costing relatively little monnies with great, 3-years warranty) and my next laptop, will definitely be Toshiba too.

To get good temperature, put an offer of ****** Dell, almost everyone has it so they will vote for it.
It may have Sempron ,512mb + Vista.... the most important - MUST be cheap.Try...seriously..it works ;-)

P.S. The Tosh deal is really good, L300 is not a high end but has a decent spec, great keyboard, fantastic screen and speakers:thumbsup:

Well I am interested in any deal you may have found! I am looking for a new laptop and have been looking at Toshiba. Dell just does not seem to hit the spot for me. HP - pass cannot comment and everyone has their fair share of horror stories about Acer CS. I need a laptop that will run Sims2 and expansions. Will this one? I thought that an intergrated graphics card was not good - am I wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated. My budget can go further but less is obviously better.

Sims2 doesn't seem to have high requirements , even new integrated chip in many cases would be good enough...but I do not play it so I would have to rely on opinions of others.Search forums if you want to be sure.
This Sony , I believe should be good enough
Sony Vaio with 8400m gt @ £399 or here @389

I voted hot.

Thanks for reply. I am totally open to all suggestions. I would be interested in your comments on the 8400 and 8600 graphics cards - basically told to say away from them!

http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/99597 and also
http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2008/09/10/nvidia_chip_defect_lawsuit/

sometimes one can over indulge in information!!!!

This machine was recommended to me today - http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5930G_Laptop_LX.AQJ0X.041/version.asp. I know its an Acer! http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5520G_Laptop_LX.AQU0X.074/version.asp

I vote hot and I bought one yesterday.
#17
Bear in mind http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk is not the cheapest you can find.

I would appreciate your views on this Tosh http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=%2C&webid=396276&affixedcode=WW

I would have preferred Intel but I have heard that AMD are suppose to be better for multi-tasking/multi-media and I cannot seem to find a comparible Intel that is not a stupid amount of money ie P300-1C9

As for the Sony I have heard that the 8400 and 8600 chipset are defective http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2008/09/10/nvidia_chip_defect_lawsuit/ and and also http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/99597

#22
I rang yesterday and was told it would be despatched today. Just checked my status on line and it says "awaiting desptach". He did tell me that there was stock to meet my order.
#23
Mine received today.
#24
Was in Staples today & spotted this:

http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?Description=UK_CL_Laptops+-+Toshiba&CatIds=21797,35750,90634&webid=397647&affixedcode=WW

How does this compare to the one mentioned or the other 2 (Dell & HP) models that seem to be quite popular at the moment.

Thanks

If you don't need 17" screen, lower end CPU and higher cost, yes this one is better.

I HATE DELL LAPTOPS. DELL is good in servers and workstation but NO WAY it can compete with TOSHIBA, IBM, SONY even ACER. Why? Beacuse usual DELLs' (not XPS series) monitor lid shakes with no reason. My 6 years old T23 does not shake at all but brand new DELL's lid shakes like leaf on a wind.

Good DEAL Heat and REP!
