I wrote something, which might not be correct, so I deleted it.
And the thing was if the cashback promotion for your offer is still valid, because L300-22E is included until the end of August. But when I tried to register it said I can do so, but it's not the time yet... Go figure...

With the Toshiba cashback site I changed address from August to September, and it still lists qualifying laptop: Satellite Pro L300D-20R £50 €55

Very hot - even at £329 there's not many, if any, better specced laptops at that price, so with cashback this is an exceptional deal.
#11
I think this is a fantastic deal, I got my sister to order one, I tempted her away from the 'Only' £399 Dells.

£329.99 is a fairly good price, but with £50 off it will be the cheapest around for this spec for at least a few months which is very good for this industry!
#12
Cracking deal, thanks!

Got this laptop. I note that its out of stock now unfortunately. Here's a mini review:-

First things first. This is a cheap laptop. About £275 (after Toshiba £50 discount) for a 2.1GHz CPU, 160GB disk, 2GB RAM, DVD R/W Vista Home Premium.
It works fine; Windows Eperience Index is 3.1 which is due to Windows Aero Graphics rating. Suffice to say I won't be playing games on this. You also get a FREE 1YR site pickup/return (so you don't have to ship it). Excellent value. Here's the other bits of note:-
BAD
1. cheap plastic feel of laptop
2. very cheap keyboard
3. 1280x800 max screen resolution. The screen is as basic as it gets.
4. I paid £5.10 for postage. Thought it would be free. Couldn't work out how to get free postage.
5. £27 fee to upgrade to Windows 7
GOOD
1. cheap
2. did I say it was cheap
Cheers

I think there was something wrong with the provided screen drive. I'm sure it was set to 32-bit color and 1280x800 but it looked quite blurry.

Installed latest drive at here...

and, after a few reboots, looks much sharper.

I am surprised this didn't get much hotter. I have been looking for a laptop under the £300 mark for someone and this is the best you can buy for your money at the moment.
The ones under £300 were all single core Celerons or Semprons, and at best you had to buy refurbished for dual core systems. This was brand new and all security sealed!

The weight is quite light for a 15" laptop and the build is good. I don't think the plastic feels cheap, it has a matte finish which has a more professional feel to it and is gun metal grey rather than the lighter colour you see in the pictures.
It is all set up now and it does not feel slow at all, it also runs quiet and not too hot. The screen is very bright and is glossy, 1280 x 800 is pretty much standard and is better than the 16:9 1368x768 for office work/web browsing. There is also a webcam which is a nice touch. The battery holds good for about 2.5/3 hours which is not bad for this price point.

I think if I was on a budget and had less than £300 to spend, paying £279 for this I would be over the moon and be very happy. This is much better than I imagined, particularly compared to other machines at this price point. It has an ATI 3100 graphics, so you can play games adequately on this unlike the Intel 4500M. The only thing they should put on here is card reader.

If you are looking for a budget laptop, this is definitely it.

Yep, definately hot (after putting a decent graphics driver on). You can get a card reader for under a tenner at Ebuyer.

Also remember to register your laptop to activate the free pickup and return part of the warranty. (You have to pahy for shipping otherwise.)

just edited my topic to include the office and antivirus, strangely its 1p cheaper if u do so.

cheers for your input mate! i agree with you completly. recieved this the other day and its not cheaply built imo. the plastics look okay to me and its a very well spec'ed lappy at this price!!!
if we're getting picky i'd have liked a card reader and bluetooth ...maybe a carrycase and a diamond ring too :whistling:

honestly its a good machine and i'm pleased with my purchase! thanks OP!

Has anyone else gone for the 12months interest free?. It has been a week now and V12 have still not processed my signed agreement. !

Also why no free Windows 7. The Toshiba site says L300D is included.

You can get your "free" Windows 7 upgrade here: https://www.toshibawin7upgrade.com/Endcustomer/Landing.aspx
with more info here: http://laptops.toshiba.com/windows7upgrade-learnmore

By the way, Toshiba's "free" means £27 something - the upgrade is free but stuff like handling, shipping, and tax isn't free. :x
