Recon items are only there for a short period. So should not be compared.

Surley Reconditioned Products are Reconditioned and not brand new so should not be compared.

You can see that & I can see that, but it doesn't matter how often it is explained that recon/refurbs are busted second-hand kit that has been returned & patched up to sell on, some people seem to find them good buys, even when sold at nearly the full price - on that basis, it is no wonder some "deals" get high votes when the slightest common sense screams that they are old junk worth just a tiny fraction of the full value! :-(

Retailers get away with this practice as so many are willing purchasers -they sell the stuff easily when it really should be more like 30% of the full price, and boy must they be smiling!

Those considering this machine should think - is a 17" what they want.... heavy, not so good on battery life, and only really usable as a replacement for a desktop system which it will not do nearly as well as they hope. Been there, tried the option - I went back to a desktop system as soon as the laptop packed up because it wasn't up to the everyday, all day use, and they are an expensive pain to have repaired :-(
Small desktop systems are out there if you are worried about space and look of the unit.

This processor is no flyer, and there are deals with better performance and spec (albeit smaller screens) posted on this site on just about a daily basis.

Not voted either way for this reason, just make sure this is the type of machine you want and need before committing.

I have to agree with that, I have this and it's a good machine if that is what you want/need. They were on sale at PC World for £399 around easter. I went in to my local store and said that I wanted to buy from the store but would have been £30 cheaper with quidco and some vouchers that were around and they dropped the price immediatley.

When you compare to most other deals on HUKD, its actually superior
