I know what you mean-- I use this in work and it hurts like crazy after a while

Nice. I love Toshiba, heat added
How does this one match - slighty more expensive at £369 (with voucher) and a bit more back from Quidco

TOSHIBA L450 - 188 Laptop (Intel Celeron® Dual-Core T3100, 4GB, 320GB, 15.6" Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium)

Am I right in thinking that the 3100 is just an underclocked version of the HD3200?

I think it misses some HD acceleration features too, much like the radeon 2300 missed th eHD features off from the 2400 pro. Saved ATI chucking away bad silicon.

I'd go for this instead

But wife has an old toshiba. Even ran it over in her car (while in laptop case - don't ask) and still works perfectly.

The Tesco deal looks pretty good, faster cpu, more RAM, bigger HDD but the graphics card is significantly slower (though ATI can only handle older, less demanding games)

Happy hunting - only joking # 86 (Intel T3100) and # 106 (AMD QL-65)

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

# 167 (ATI 3100) and #172 (Intel 4500M)

Any facts to correct my statement are welcome

Only thing that lets it down - Comets.

Been all over the world with my Toshiba

Had it turned on for silly hours a day for many years

Not one problem

And I suffer from an internet addiction

Bought my Mum one too

The reason I bought Toshiba in the first place was cos I used to listen to my mate go on about his old Toshiba and how long he'd had it

Back at the ranch? I'd buy this :-D

Ah, no wonder I use a HP:thumbsup:

I think these only have a two hour battery life. Good price but like most brands they have good quality reliable machines for the business users and cheaper machines for joe public. I have come across some really crap toshiba machines, skimp on everything for that headline grabbing price.
#20
Another one here with kudos for Toshiba laptops!

Had mine nearly 4 years now and have upgraded the HD and RAM to capacity, just a shame the graphics card is integrated and can't be swapped out otherwise I'd keep it for a few more years.

i have 2 toshibas(satellite pros) and they are a rock solid laptop, I really rate them highly.
#22
Got one of these for my Mum today, with Norton and Office for £404 :-)

Great deal, heat added.

When you consider it's got 3GB memory and Windows 7 Home Premium, then £349 is really not a bad price imho.

I'm a techy and the vast majority of laptops with hardware problems are HPs.
The old ones 4+ years old were very well build and reliable, the newer 'trendy' ones are crap!
HP have serious problems with their graphics cards. HP deny it despite the fact that the net is full of complaints.
The most reliable I find to be Toshiba, Lenevo(IBM), the Acers that are less than two years old and Dell.
The ones with the most problems are definately HP, followed by the "cool" Sony vaios.
