#3
just ordered on, thankssss

Using this right now - great little computer, really fast for the low price and a surprisingly nice keyboard.
Only thing is the small screen, but I'm used to a 17 inch laptop so it's a massive jump down for me.
It's super portable and the battery life is great too. At this price it's a true bargain.

Oh dear has just gone up to £239.00 in front of my eyes....was a good deal!!

looks like a nice lappy, 2 years warranty and a 9hr battery life

Yah got this for Christmas after testing out a friend's NC10 and deciding this was faster with a superior keyboard.

I haven't had a Toshiba PC before and didn't think they'd be much cop, but I have to say, it's an incredible machine for the pounds.

Out of the box the touchpad is mighty sensitive - you can change that easily using the Tosh control panel. Haven't found a way of toning it down using the Jolicloud OS yet but I'm still looking!

Cannot fault it at this price. Have been considering replacing the stick of RAM with a 2Gb alternative but it doesn't really need it for the purpose it's intended, i.e. web/office work.
#10
Nearly bought this... but a shiney screen on a "portable" computer put me off.
#11
It wasn't that long ago that there were two types of people buying laptops those who bought Toshiba and those who didn't....

Shame Tosh took their eye off the ball back then but seem to be giving it some again now, good to see!

Great Deal - Purchased - Have Some Heat!!

Awesome - been looking for one of these for ages - thanks :)

Not sure why this is a particularly good price.
Dell outlet store are selling their Inspiron 10" for £172 - delivered.

Dell Outlet sell refurbs, do they not?
This isn't a refurb, which for an extra £17 is a great deal for those wary of refurb kit.

It also has a 2-year warranty, which Dell won't provide for that £172, so it's not really a like-for-like comparison.
#16
Hasn't this got a better battery life than the Dell?
#17
The price has gone up to £246 now.

dell's is reburbished, has a 1yr warranty instead of 2, has no built in card reader, has 3hrs battery life instead of over 9hrs.

The idiots brought it in line with laptopsdirect.

I hate it when companies do that - they are clearly reading this thread too.

NOTE TO THE IDIOTS AT JRLINTON - I WILL NO LONGER BUY FROM YOU FOOLS

yep, i hate companies that put their prices up after noticing theirs are cheaper.

Erm, surely there are still (and as long as Toshiba exist will always be) 2 types of people buying laptops, those who buy Toshiba and those who don't. A bit of a non-statement? :p
#22
The Toshiba I bought has a very weak power power port which broke very quckly. Has taken CPW three weeks so far to repair it.

He was referring to a time when Toshiba manufactured the highest quality laptops (obviously at exorbitant prices) but they were indeed the best. So there were those who owned a Toshiba and could brag about it and others who only had "a" laptop (and they were usually very crappy). Just to make it clear to the new generations, Toshiba laptops were practically the only ones which could be used for playing videogames (at least for a while).

I remember those days too because I dreamt of having a Toshiba laptop back then

I guess it was the period around 1999-2002. At the time computers REALLY were ancient relics only after a year, glad that period is over.

After they increased their price I think I shall pass. :(

- how does putting up the price up make them "suck" exactly - it's a £7 rise anyway, not £70, does that really make such a difference on a £239 netbook? Other retailers such as Amazon use similar tactics to raise prices on fast-selling items as a matter of course.
#29
Isn't this along the lines of price fixing though ? If they were selling it at the lower price then for no reason put the price up then this issomething that the likes of trading standards take issue with . It's not like it's started costing them more to get the laptops and I'm fairly sure they'd have put the VAT back up to what it should be when it was supposed to go back up . I think this may even be illegal . Morrisons do this when they're doing a 2 for £3 offer or whatever . It always states that they're say £1.89 each when any other time they're £1.59 . Utter nonsense as far as I'm concerned . Had this offer been available before Christmas I'd have considered buying it for my son but if they're using tactics like this I can see them losing a lot of customers no matter what time of year it is . You'd think they'd be delighted to be making sales in this current climate wouldn't you ?

Come on people, this is still a much better deal than the laptopsdirect one that people are comparing it to! The 2 year warranty is a decent addition and the price still works out £4 cheaper. The fact is this is a hot price and should be unexpired, else people will waste money buying the one from LD!
#31
Here's even more reason to unexpire - ordered mine yesterday morning, received it this morning. Excellent quality bit of kit.

Hi, I'm new here, I am extremely tempted by this deal, but I have never heard of JRLINTON before, are they legit?

also is this cashback deal as easy as it sounds, do I need to register the laptop now, or wait until 30 days after purchase?

and finally do you guys think this is a good deal? I've been wanting to get a netbook for a while, but I'm not in a major rush, however I don't want to miss out on another good opportunity

Thanks!

No, sorry, just a fabric thing protecting the screen.

Had it running for ages yesterday without a charge. So pleased I went this over a standard 3-cell netbook! :-D

I was a bit wary too but ordered anyway and received the netbook next-day with free delivery. Can't say how good the customer service will be, but for this price I'm taking my chances.
