Over £300 on Amazon and it gets good reviews, this looks good for the money. Hot.

8/10 from CNET review and 4.5/5 from PCadvisor. Reviewers say it could do with an extra Gb of memory (which is doable) and a faster harddisk but hey it's a Netbook not a laptop. Oh they also love the 802.11n and bluetooth so hot from me.

then maybe http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/655/862/-/14918483/Asus-Eee-PC-1001-P-CPW-BK025-Seashell-Intel-Atom-N450-1-66GHz-1GB-160GB-10-Windows-7-Starter-Netbook-Black/Product.html?searchtype=genre

Don't fool yourself, it's not Windows 7 [Win 7 Starter is a cut-down version}. You're better off with a full XP.
#14
Apart from the 250gb HDD, why is this better than the average £200 10in netbook which has 1.6ghz cpu and 1gb ram?
#15
LED backlight also a bonus
#16
It's a known name, bigger HDD, 802n, Windows 7 Starter.

full xp netbooks normally come with older tech like the n270 or the n280(worst battery life cos the n450 manages its power better, lcd instead of led, also xp is an old OS (i'm guessing must be 8 years old now?) so microsoft will be cutting support for it soon (if they haven't already).
Lots of ppl who buy netbooks get the win7 premium update for netbooks:thumbsup: they can even run photoshop on it

Thanks for the post. Its made me spoilt for choice. I want to buy a netbook by the end of next week. My budget was £200 but its obviously been pushed up. I'm stuck:

~£230 Toshiba nb300 250gb 10.1" 1gb ram
~£230 Sony W11S1e 160gb 10.1" 1gb RAM
~£230 Asus EeePC 1008ha 250gb 10.1" 1gb ram bluetooth
~£250 HPCompaq 311c 160gb 11.6 Bluetooth HDMI

Does anyone know which has the best sound quality?

I know that the n220 samsung has 2.1 hd stereo sound. came out top in this last months stuff magazine but quite a bit more expensive.

but as with most netbooks no hdmi port:x

If anyone is interested in the NB305 (the "mocha" one) they seem to be like gold-dust. John Lewis High Wycombe just got a bunch in stock. My dad had one on pre-order. They are selling near RRP though - £349.99.

This is a very good deal. I have been researching netbooks for about a month or so now, and just when I decided to build a PC, this great deal comes out. Lame :(

Microsoft are supporting XP until at least April 2014 as it's by far the most popular OS in the business world.

I also spotted this one below which is good but not as good as this one (same price very similar spec but a hp which i don't like as much as Toshiba (just dreading seeing my samsung n220 drop even more Paid £320 its currently £288.

toshiba >>>> zoostorm
#29
Jees Hotuk could make me spend again!!!

The only thing that puts me off is the lack of bluetooth, seems weird its not in. Been on toshy web site and in the FAQ 2 out of three ppl say it comes with bluetooth? Maybe down to region spec?????
http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/mini-notebook/NB300

Not sure why you think the Zoostorm is a better deal. It only claims 4 hours battery life and uses an old N270 processer. I don't reckon it touches this Toshiba. Just trying to figure how I can justify buying one of these to the wife.
#31
very tempted

Hi mmuw, thanks for the reply :-D
#34
no bluetooth?
#35
I gave heat for the price, but there are some drawbacks you should be aware of:

1/ Slow hard drive (even for netbooks) according to a review
2/ Battery life if realistically 7 hrs (but that's still good)
3/ Windows 7 starter is functionally limited

Also, don't expect an n450 to give much better performance than the n270, as the only difference is that its cheaper for Intel to manufacturer the n450s than the older n270 - performance is very close.

If you want a faster netbook, that can play 1080p video, then get the £256 MSI U230 at Argos Clearance on ebay.

12" screen, good 250gb HDD, ATI Radeon HD3200 (the specs are wrong on the argos page), 2gb memory, and full Windows 7.
I got it for £214, one of the lucky 3 that day who saw it.

If you want cheaper, then there are £150 MSI U100s on offer.

Does anyone know where to get a 2gb memory stick for this? I just had a look around and found a few for £70+!!!!!!!!!!!!
#37
Does anyone know of a good fitting neoprene cover for this? Would like a decent one that doesn't cost the earth! Thanks

2GB for £43.46 - delivered at Crucial.

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=NB300&mfgr=Toshiba

Then sell the 1GB.
#39
Do argos still do the giftcards, when you spend £50 / £100 etc.

ie, when buying this will you get say £20 Argos Voucher?
#40
I looked for an ASUS EEE1001P with 2 year warrenty - no joy

get the TOSH or the ASUS
In the real world you will only get 9 hours battery life (with fastidious WiFi on/off)
but summer is coming and you want to be in shade watching iplayer etc...

I just went back my borked DELL 1011 under Distance Selling rule
i want this http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCHOS-Home-Tablet-8GB-FLASH/dp/B003COZM2C/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_3
£130 - no portrait , no bluetooth, no Android market, don't care
