Been looking for a netbook for a while now, and while I don't want to be spending too much for one, I see it as a necessity to get a dual core one with something other than Intel's intergrated graphics performance. Recent came across this, and although this is expensive for a netbook, it is running AMD's new fusion CPU which is meant to be a fair bit better than the dual-core atoms. This netbook is about £80 more than the dual-core Samsung N150 Plus, but for that extra £80 you get a better processor and better graphics capabilities, as well as much better speakers. The only thing that I've been able to find that is similar is the Asus Eee PC (the one with the atom n525 1.8ghz and ION graphics) but that costs a fair bit more.

Battery life is apparently up to 9.5 hours on these but unfortunately the screen resolution is only 1024 x 600 ( WSVGA ). I've never owned a netbook though so I'm not sure how much this will matter on a screen of only 10.1"
I'm also not much of a gamer but apparently this can run Crysis.

The C-50 cpu on this runs at 1GHz and the laptop is very poor spec for this price - for the same money I would rather have this Lenovo with faster E-350 cpu and 2GB of ram plus Windows 7 HP and a larger 11.6" screen with 1366x768 resolution:

If you want a small netbook then just get one with the Atom N450/455 cpu for half the money.

that lenovo you put a link too.....is it the same specs as the x120e that they have brought out in the states?

That Lenovo seems good.. Hadnt come across that before but it's sorta what I'm looking for

Yeah unfortunately the USA seem to get better spec laptops for much cheaper over there. Recently got a Dell XPS 17 and it was much more expensive over here with a crappy screen too! I would order it from over there and get it sent over but customs are likely to blow a big hole in my wallet.

have a look at this Acer 753 at Amazon. Starts at £250 for the silver. Goes up to £360 in red for the larger hard drive, better spec.
Downside is only 6 hours battery but better hardware imo

Thanks. It seems to have intergrated graphics though and is more expensive. Not to mention it's an Acer which I've heard has questionable build quality.

Frankly the netbook market is stagnating due to the licensing (and physical) restriction of max 2GB RAM on Win7 starter. With this as your bottleneck you may as well look for as cheap a netbook as possible, like the £120/£130 deals offered here through ebay and currys/pcworld.

Wouldn't this be alright though if you stick on a copy of Windows 7 Premium or something?

Won't be getting a netbook I can get the following:

11"+ Screen
Dual Core
2GB RAM
HDMI Port
768p Screen Res
HD Graphics - capabale of 1080p video playback.
Good Battery Life - over 7hrs

I reckon I'm gonna be in for a long wait.

No this will never happen as 11"+ screens are sub notebooks and not netbooks! :)

As for the deal the Acer Aspire One 522 is only £250 and features a 1280x720 screen which is a massive bonus over 1024x600 screens for net use. At £250 it is very well priced against it competition of Atom N550 ION2.

Doesn't seem to be any.. Must be a new release. You can find a few "hands on" on youtube though

The Acer seems decent enough. But it's less powerful and personally, I would get an Acer laptop again due to one I had a few years ago.

I will probably go for the Lenovo due to the faster processor, dedicated gfx & extra GB of RAM.

Wish I could find some info on the battery life. It just says 6cell.

No prob. I'm tempted to look for a 9 cell battery if I end up getting this laptop though. Could mean up to 10 hours runtime!
