Rephrase ur question so it makes sense.

If you mean, will you be able to play video through the USB plug yes, it will (I just looked it up)

Since the tv is HD-ready only, it will be upscaled to some propriator resolution, not full HD.

symbian could have meant 'Can it play MKV files from USB?'...which it almost certainly can't.... but as we don't really know what the question is the answer has to be 'definitely maybe'.

Same at Dixons...

OK, so is this a new rule. If two companies are selling a good product at an excellent price it means it's not a good deal, but if only one of them is offering the price then it is a good deal. Is that right?

Which would you advise is the better TV , the one in this thread or this one also found at dixons : Samsung LE32B450C 32" LCD TV

Im thinking the samsung at the moment? Anybody got any alternatives for around the same price range?

No, it means Dixons (and all of DSG) are simply CRAP, so use an alternative if you can!

Nihcaj - Why are dixons so rubbish? If the price they are providing is decent? Is there any other problems?

I considered both this Toshiba and the above Samsung when I was choosing which TV to buy. When compared side to side I found the Toshiba picture to be sharper and more precise. That is what made me go for it. At the time the Samsung was £329.99 and the Tosh was £359.99 but included a Tosh upscaling DVD player (I got Quidco back on the Tosh since it was bought from Play.com).

I would therefore vote for the Toshiba, but I don't think the Samsung would be a bad choice.

Not just Dixons, the DSG Group Curry's PC Wolrd too - I think many people on this site (as well as elsewhere) will agree they are very poor at Customer service, not as bad as some of the very worst, but worse than others, and of course their financial stability has not been so good in recent times either!
There is plenty of information to search out there.

Sorry about my English!!! I actually mean that can I play .mkv file via USB port or at least video file. It will be no point if I can play video file through it. LG would be a better choice. Hope this time it would be fine.:w00t:

Cheers for the replies.

Humm not sure which to go for now this Toshiba or the Samsung. If there wasnt alot in the picture, i think i might opt for the Samsung on the glossy finish as it will look nice next to my PS3 then.

I'm not sure if these will play DivX / DivX VOD / .MKV files

I've got the 42XV635 and it will play Divx through the USB port but not .mpg or .mkv files

Looking throught the manual for the AV635 series, it only states the USB is used for viewing .jpg pictures.
Manual link below:
http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/upload/BrochuresAndManuals/Manuals/AV635.pdf

It could be that it does have Divx functionality which would be a bonus feature but to be honest with you, even on the XV series, the Divx playback interface is a little clunky with poor navigation and if you have a large Divx file it takes a while to start playback.

Personally I'd ignore the USB/Divx functionality (unless you want Divx VOD) and go for an external player. My £30 Aldi DVD Player with Divx /USB is far superior to the inbuilt Divx and the XBMC on my Xbox is better still.
