And don't overlook that at Amazon you can buy a to-5yr extended warranty for £124 as compared to say paying Dixons £6.99/month for 5 years = £419.40 :whistling:

PS: Otherwise for those who like SOME security over longer term usage - RicherSounds and their 10% extra for 5 years of cover is often v.good, as is getting John Lewis (with their free 5yrs) to price match RicherSounds :)

i'm never gonna find a tv...i have been waiting for a yr and all i see are these type of deals. last year boxing day had so many good offers such as the LG LCD think it was from the 7000 series, was a 42", full HD, 80,000:1, Bluetooth, loads of connections eg optical/usb,hdmi's and it was over 100hz priced at £487 from currys last year, now the same thing a year later cost more than that. how can it inflate. i'm so frustrated this year as no decent deals come along. :((( something about this toshiba, it keeps poppin up from nowhere like limescale

Most businesses books are looking better than they did compared to this time last year. No need for them to see off excess stock cheaply.

Really?

You should get just under £11 Quidco on this too, making it a better deal than the Amazon one imho.............

(.............now I just need to try and justify spending £430 on a TV that I don't really need..............)

Its also to do with the weak pound against the currencies that produce the TV's

and don't forget the increase in VAT!

good price for a tv that gets good reviews. Was tempted but ended up going for the M&S panasonic which was £622 with quidco. Better TV with Freesat built in - but a lot more money.

Agree with you completely. I am on the same boat but decided to go for the panny 42x10 £499 from JL with 5 year warranty.

New models with built in Freeview HD will be released soon, which should hopefully drop the price for older models
#15
id say grab a non freesat HD bargain tv before they all go , and buy a seperate HD freesat receiver, before all your choice will be a far more exspensive tv with built in freesat HD

thats what i did :-)

REP added for the P.S. bit - most people won't do it or believe it BUT at least you told them :)

Will John Lewis price match their online store with other online retailers ?

and is this the same model on the John Lewis web site ?

http://www.johnlewis.com/230673167/Product.aspx as it has a slightly different code no.

@ mad101dan : I doubt they'll match it, if the model numbers are different. Other models on JL's website are only a letter or so off, but also twice the price!
Let me know if you get them to do it though, as I'd love one.

The one at John Lewis is the RV - the next model up from the AV. It basically has slightly higher specs. With the 5 year JL warranty though, £569 is not a bad price for the RV - might go for it myself.................;-)

Certainly if you are considering purchasing an extended warranty for the AV, you are better off putting the extra £130 towards the next model up, and get the warranty included.
