Contrast 500:1 - seems very low?
#4
must be a typo and be 5000!

or even 50,000!
#5
the contrast ratio should be 1200:1

Good price that. End of line though, as the WLT68 is out now... however im not too sure what the differences are apart from an extra HDMI port. Maybe they improved the sound on the WLT68. Ive heard you really need to buy the sound box thingy that attaches to the WLT66 (around £60) as the sound quality is poor (obviously no need if you're connecting to surround sound)

Anyway, voted hot

Actualy on toshibas german site they say it's 800:1...

Good price although personally for a 42" TV I'd prefer a plasma, but thats down to personal preference to a large degree each have their strengths and weaknesses.
#10
yeah i think it is 800:1. I must have seen the contrast ratio for the 32'' lol

I agree with you Filo25 ^^^

Either way you look at this TV it’s a good deal.
I think its important to remember unless you have the ideal room to put this TV or any TV in i.e. you have the ideal set up where by the sofa is in the middle of the room (how many of us own a house this big?) and the surround sound speakers are all set up 3 meters away (or what ever it is) you really won't notice the difference unless your prepared to pay £1000's!!

The main difference may be a little picture quality, and again unless you have different TV's side by side it's difficult to compare and to the average Joe looking for an everyday this TV will be more than fine.

But hey the decision is your!!!!

I bought one of these before Xmas for the best part of a grand and it's a superb TV. My only criticism with it is that the built in sound isn't fantastic, and you really need a surround-sound system to get the most from this.
It's brilliant for playing XBox360 games on.
Make sure you have a big lounge though because this is a BIG TV.

The spec (brightness, contrast, res etc) from pixmania is all wrong, check out the spec at toshiba site

http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/pages/lcdplasma-lcdfreeview-42wlt66?opendocument

The older 66 model has got better resolution than the new 68, 1920x1080.......but beware, it doesn't support 1080p for some reason.

I have the 32WLT66 and this price advertised on here is amazing. Excellent find. Heat & Rep added.

This is the Swiss grey import model. If it develops a fauult you will have to return to Switzerland! A common thing with Pixmania.

I can vouch for that. I bought the 37' a few months ago and it had a slight lean on the stand, and when I contacted Toshiba UK they were reluctant to deal with it (because it was a Z model) and pushed me to talk to pixmania. Pixmania however picked it up for free and sent me a replacement. The t & c's however stated it was the purchasers responsibility to return faulty goods to france! All 30kgs. This was in the first week however, who knows if they would pick up after the intial dsr period.

Sorry for posting the misleading info, this model, 42WL66Z, sold by pixmania is indeed an European model, the actual spec in german is at:
http://www.toshiba.de/consumer/content/defaultid1_1_id2_0_id3_5_id4_5.aspx

The resolution is hence 1366x768, rather than UK model 42WLT66 which has higher resolution. I was originally thinking these models are the same, only to realise now that the European and UK models are different, and hence the price.
