Blimey, 46 is big. I have a big lounge and 46in would still be a whopper, and bigger just seems to make SD images worse and worse! :)

This TV has SD upscaling making it better...

Resolution+
Toshiba’s unique and critically-acclaimed Resolution+ upscaling technology takes everyday standard definition content and instantly improves edge detail and texture, enhancing it to virtually high definition picture quality.

It does indeed...the exact reason i plumped for this instead of other sets.
However....it really isn't all that good so have resorted to using the upscaling features of my digital tv box instead. In fact,if you try to use the upscaling of both together you get a bitty/snowy HD picture especailly on BBC HD.
Also note that the speakers on this tv are useless for any audiophiles out there. They do the job but have no bass and you'd be much better adding on a surround sound system.

All that said..it IS a good tv but not without its faults.I also paid £150 more than this for it from Amazon too so a bit upset!

Hope this helps,

I have the 37" version of this and the SD upscaling is great as long as you are the right distance from the screen and the source isnt really old.

I find the speakers fine for general TV usage - but would never dream of watching films using them as they will never be a match for my surround sound system.

What are you going to be using it for - if you plan on using it for gaming at all then get the Tosh as the Panasonic (being plasma) isnt designed for games really.

If running costs are important then again the Tosh will win as it uses an eco panel so uses less power than the plasma will (this also means that less heat is produced - the tosh is the first LCD Ive had that hasnt omitted lots of heat from the screen).

When I was looking into buying my new TV I had the choice of a panny plasma or this tosh and I was advised that if I played games a lot (which I do) that Plasmas are not recommended due to the higher risk of image retention.

Not going to be using it for games, maybe watching movies through my computer.

No big surprise on the price drop. The £100 cash back on this model ended on 11th November so the net price is pretty much the same.
Still a hot deal though.
