The tv is £399, was £450 a few days ago, delivery is £5 so £404 delivered.

3% Quidco which makes it £391.88 Delivered.

798 points (effectively £7.98) which makes it £383.90

1500 EXTRA points off a £200+ spend using this code: TDX-FUJD (may not work)
1000 EXTRA points off a £150+ spend using this code: TDX-JXK4 (works as of 14:59 31st july)

Which would make it £368.90 Delivered or £373.90 Delivered depending which of the codes work for you :)

Instead of the 1500 tesco points code you could use TDX-TVHS for £20 off a tv stand, you can't use both codes together, i already tried :(

Buy Now Pay Later. 0% interest for 6 months available on this product!

This is a very good tv, it has Freeview HD built-in, so you get ITVHD, BBCHD, Channel4HD all built-in and BBC1HD is launching by christmas all you need is an aerial :) Only some transmitters are transmitting Freeview HD at the moment, to see if your transmitter is enabled see here: http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability/main/indexhd/

The stand swivels around 20 degrees btw which is handy.

Specifications: http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/Regza-LCD-TV/30-39-LCD-TV-screen-size/REGZA-37rv753/

I have the 40" version, here's photos of what my 40RV753 looks like: http://www.sendspace.com/file/wb27l4

P.S the usb port definately plays .jpg photos, it doesn't play back .avi, .mkv, .vob, .mp3, .bmp, .CR2 (canon raw), i've just tried.

Firmware updates can be checked for via ethernet cable, an optional toshiba certified usb wireless stick or via the tv aerial (takes a long time).

I also have the 40 inch version of this TV and it really is excellent, the only bad thing i can say against it is that it doesn't play video through the USB port.
#2
Review here seems to suggest it may suffer from a buzzing noise.

the buzzing noise is a fault announced by toshiba, some say it needs a software update, Toshiba say it needs a new board.

That review was done at the end of may, i bought my tv 2 weeks ago, maybe they fixed the fault in the new tv's shipping.

The RV753 & SL753 ranges don't, you have to go up to the WL753 range to get this feature.

Oh, i was under the impression that as long as the usb drive was formatted to fat32 it would work fine.

This happened to some of the older 6xx range models, look at the reviews for them on Amazon though it didn't happen for everyone.

is there anyways to get this tv to play divx moive via USB? cos the price seems right to me so if i could paly movies via usb i will buy it! thanks everyone

Sounds like a great deal. I've been looking at Sony and Panasonic for around £600 with freeview HD.
I wonder if anyone could help on one point?
I was intending to hook it up to my old Denon amp and Mission speakers, but there doesn't seem to be analogue audio outputs on this set.
Is there anyway around this at all so that can hook it up to my hi-fi?
Thanks in advance.....

The user manuals for the Toshiba LCDs etc are available here, just fill in the model No. you are interested in

Toshiba

Had a look at the manual, can't see any stereo audio out sockets on this model :(
Would definitley go for it if I can figure out how to connect it to my speakers

I have a regza in the bedroom, not overly keen on it. It's 2 years old tho so perhaps they've improved

Tesco also have the 40" Toshiba 40LV 40" HDR 1080p LCD TV with built in Freeview for £399.00, same deal with clubcard points, this is good if you want a larger TV, though the 37" does have a better spec with the HD freeview.

If you looked at the photos in the link in the OP you'd see that there is analog audio ports. If you wanna play videos via usb spend £20 on a dvd player.

Thanks for your reply, are those not input sockets, not outputs.
If you look at the manual, it does say input.
It does say that the WL or SL models have input and output sockets.
Can you confirm that they are definitely outputs?
Great deal still ;)

on the side of the tv there is a 3.5mm Jack for headphones/speakers which you can plug a stereo cable into like this: http://cgi.eb**.co.uk/1-5M-3-5mm-3-5-Jack-2-x-RCA-Phono-GOLD-Cable-Lead-/280535065901?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item415131652d

There is also a port on the back, not sure if that is an input or output port though.
#24
Thanks very much for that.

Is the output on the side set back quite far?
I'm just wondering if the cable would be noticeable or if it
would be hidden if it was taped or tied towards the back of the set?

there's a photo of the output on the side in the link in the OP. You can get right angled cables instead of a straight 1 i linked: http://cgi.eb**.co.uk/Right-angle-3-5mm-stereo-plug-2-phono-rca-1m-OFC-X2-q3-/370414797015?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CE_MP3Access_RL&hash=item563e7140d7

I don't seem to get any of the voucher codes to work - so sitting at £404 (minus quidco)
suspended#27
It looks like they cancelled the code. Use this for 1000 points: TDX-JXK4

Just tried it and it works.

The 1500 points code is working - you've missed a letter of the end of it.
The code is TDX-FUJD, just ordered it and it still works fine, finishes tomorrow though.

And thanks again for spotting the deal ;)
#29
Hmm I'm sorely tempted by this, anyone know if you can return tvs to tesco if you've tried it and just dont like it?
suspended#30
under the distance selling act you should have 7 or 14days to return it.

Currys/dixons/comet sell the 32 and 40" versions, you could go to their stores and test 1 of those out, if you like it then buy the 37" from tesco.

I had a look at this today but my wife (the boss) prefers the look of a Samsung. Anyone recommend a deal on a 40" between £450 and £600??

These are from Amazon:

Samsung LE40C580 - £476.99

Samsung LE40C530 - £468.90

Samsung UE40C5100 - £652.90

We have a Toshiba 37" XV 1080p LCD TV bought for about this price 18 months ago and think it's an excellent TV. While not always the most stylish TVs on the market you will always get a lot 'bang for your buck' with Toshibas and with this model having Freeview HD thrown in, it has got to be excellent value for money. Spend a little time tweaking the numerous picture settings to suit your taste and you will be amazed how good the picture quality on Toshiba TVs can be.

Had this TV setup for a week now, the only problem I have had is with my SKY+ box, after getting this TV, my SKY+ remote seemed to stop working, I tried an alternate remote and the same problem,I then noticed the red light on the sky was lighting intermittently when I pressed a button, for every 20 key presses, 1 was registered. After lots of messing around, I found the sky remote light on the sky box worked prefectly when the TV was switched off ???? I have the sky box on a cabinet below the TV, so I just pushed the sky box back 6" into the cabinets and it works perfectly now, so must be some sort of interference from the Toshiba TV. Just thought I'd mentioned that incase anyone has a similar problem, as I spent an after pulling my hair out with it !
