Hot. Seems a decent spec for the price - the graphics card is the major let down.

Voted Hot, very good price for what it is, after a 16" notebook myself, want a higher res (1080p) and a faster CPU, but this notebook will easily handle 720p HD material, especialy with the help of the new intel HD4 integrated graphics, would forget 3D gaming though.
#3
I agree you all, super buy if you don't need the graphics.

Found this deal myself last week. Ummed and ahhed about it and finally bought one today. Hard to match this price for the spec. Heat and rep added.

I am sure they were selling this model for £399 last week, as I nearly bought it. So I am not sure it is a fantastic deal :-(

Yes. Lenovo N500 C2D T5800 4GB 320GB DVDRW 15.4" Vista Premium. It says that it is 2GB Memory - but it comes with 4GB and it has nVidia 256MB GeForce 9300 graphics. The price is £421.40 delivered (after 2%) quidco.

The only difference is that the Tosh has a slightly larger screen - but then (and I don't want to start some sort of Tosh/Lenovo religious war) Lenovo know how to make better notebooks than Toshiba.

Just choose the Tosh if you want to supplement your central heating ....

Oooh, all carbony. I'll probably hum and haw over this till it's out of stock and then kick myself. Shame they couldn't squeeze a little Geforce card in there too. Not that I've ever played games on my desktop, so I'll probably not play them on a laptop either. But still, would've been nice.

Here's the spec page on toshiba's website where they're selling it for £529 (not the £600 Cdiscount is showing as RRP):

Thanks for that creamola rep given, the graphics aren't too important as it is only going to be used for web browsing and playing football manager (not graphically intensive), is there anything a shade cheaper you can recommend?

Well, the trouble is the pound/dollar thing. There is probably not that much stuff left in the channel that was purchased at favourable exchange prices - so prices are going up.

I personnally rate the Samsung NC10 (around £310) but as it is a netbook, you need to see it first - to ensure that you are happy with the keyboard size and screen. It comes running XP - but windows 7 (beta) also runs on it a treat.

Other than that, the Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-1FL Pentium Dual Core T3400 2.16GHz, 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 15.4" TFT, DVD±RW, Vista Home Premium UK over at ebuyer for £364 (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158352) is worth a look.

However, unless you are really desperate now, I would hold off. Three reasons:

1. Samsung have got new and faster versions of Netbooks due out.

2. Intel have got faster versions of their Atom on the cards.

3. Nvidia have their new Ion graphics - which is low power and high performance - looking like releasing in Q3.

So, mix that lot together and I reckon you will have very powerful (Windows 7) running netbooks that will probably come close (or exceed) current mid-range notebooks coming soon.

Right thanks, needing something in the next couple of weeks so i'll have a browse around and might end up back with one of the ones you've suggested.

Good question. The problem is, that if it arrives with 2GB in - there is nothing you can do about it - because that is what it specifies on the page at bt shop. However:

1. I bought one from the BT shop that arrived last Sat. It has 4GB.

2. Lenovo/IBM's own spec for this model shows that it has 4GB - see http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi...pe&language=en - and look for the model NS747
