The main reason I am posting this as I was thinking of getting it for my son when he goes to university.
All the reviews moan about the battery life ...less than 2 hours ..would that be a real problem for a university computer ?

The same machine is on play for £1249.

2 hours isn't a problem if using in a fixed location - if ever want to use on the move then yes its a problem.
these have really nice build but even so im not sure its worth the premium even if its cheapest for the model.

Of course that processor is now being replaced by the 2nd Gen Sandybridge i7's.

I posted a Samsung 17" 6gb with an i7-2630QM for £999 yesterday but it went cold.

It is the same spec as the 15" macbook pro ..What is annoying is that has a 10 hour battery life.

Presumably a lot a value has gone into the blu-ray writer - personally I'd have rather have a player only with a 1080p screen; or no blu-ray and some money off or maybe a better graphics card or processor.

Oopps Sorry! Just spotted this has a 3d screen - that explains the high price. Still can't see the point of 3D on a small low-res screen; but if that's what you need I guess it's worth the price...

Not shying away from the deal and all that, but Comet are the worst company to deal with if anything goes wrong. Dont expect any help from them. They are still using the old fashioned ways of electrical salesmanship.
