Not a great analogy. Since when would a Lada have relatively the same components as a Ferrari?

It’s a Satellite which is their basic consumer brand I think! I looked at one recently and it was one of the tackiest plastic pieces of dung that I’ve seen. This may be better but don’t flatter Toshiba.

I personally like a Toshiba...well put together...hardly ever see one in for repair, but when they are its just the usual DC Jack thats been pushed inside the case...this is connected to the motherboard usually by a cable instead of soldered to the board, making the repair relatively cheap and easy :)

Couldnt say that is the case with this one though lol

I like Dell's, they're good quality machines but Toshiba is up a level and worth paying a bit more for. HOT

Have to throw my weight behind the Dell outlet, bought an XPS 15 from there 3 weeks ago for £480 delivered and it would leave this Tosh dead in the water.
I5 560m, 1GB Nvidea card, full 1080p screen, TV Tuner , 4gb Ram , 500gb HD, JBL sound system, USB 3. There were similar spec'd I3 models without 1080p for £400.

Like to add as well that I may of got lucky, but the machine I received was not a re furb but a cancelled order, never been out of the box, not a mark on it, all stickers still attached etc and complete with 12mth warranty.

They have different ranges though: some Dells look rubbish to me (Inspiron 1545), the XPS ranges are much better and there’s stuff in between. Same with Toshiba no doubt; blanket statements are meaningless.

This model looks similar to the one offered by Argos at similar price except the Argos model comes with a larger 320Gb hard drive and a 2 yr warranty.

Argos offer Toshiba C660 i3-380m 2Gb/320Gb

If it's a refurb your after with 1yr warranty, this i5-460M with 4Gb ram and 500Gb hdd for £375.81 after quidco is probably the current best deal:

trying to compare this with another toshiba on saveonlaptops http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_C650-197_998124.html. This is pricier but has more RAM and what looks like a "slower" i3 processor. What's the concensus of faster processor vs more RAM for this price difference ?
#17
The way i look at it is RAM is an easy upgrade, CPU a difficult one. I always go for the faster processor, and add RAM later if/when necessary.

The i5 is the same as the i3, turbo boost is pointless. as most programes are optimised for dual core, so shutting a core off and turnining one up, wont do much.

Utter *******. I have a Tosh Satellite L300. It cost £359 and never a day's problem. In contrast, I know someone who bought an HP Pavillion, £700 and that went belly up after 18 months.

As for Dell, have people had to use their 'customer service'?
