Obviously it is "in store" only. On line it is £100 more!

You can't actually buy anything online from bestbuy for now AFAIR

While I am a fan of the dual core celerons and especially the 3000 series, the single core ones don't have the performance for happy computing in todays demanding situations.
#8
all depends what you expect to actually use it for?

You would be a fool to think that for this price you would get a high powered gaming/hd video editing machine.
For my soon to be 11 year old, who likes some online gaming societies and a bit of homework office software editing, it is over powered.
most people don't use a 5th of their machines capability, if you are one of them this is ideal. which is your average web browsing social networker.

celeron is like driving older diesel engine cars with 1 busted spark plug. fix alot of laptops & never liked celerons. not voting as thats just my opinion.

PMSL!!! Hope you know more about computers than cars as diesels do not have spark plugs.

you do realise there are new celerons right? for example Intel Celeron P4500, better than most 2.1Ghz core 2 duos! Also the T3000 which is in budget laptops and is the same as a 1.8Ghz core 2 duo, very good cpu for the money.

i think this is a nice deal, not brilliant tho. just the right price to not make you think 'oh lets spend another £50', which is always the way, because you wont get much of an improvement at this price.

fixed for ya!

fixed for ya!

Not quite! the glow plug only helps start the car. The right phrase would be a broken injector :)

Just for the record, most old diesels will still be on the road way longer than the new stuff.

I bought one of these from BB's for my grandson. Getting less than 2 hours battery use before needing to connect to mains. To be fair to BB, they have asked me to bring it back for them to look at it.

does anyone know the phone number of the croyden store?

I do however its not open for another 3 months so they might not pick up. Try Thurrock instead.

that might just need your settings changed to more power friendly.

with max settings I would expect that to be about right, but in battery saving mode, low!

Sounds not unreasonable if it comes with a normal size battery pack.

IMHO, many people would be far happier if they pretended/accepted most laptops are intended just for use plugged in.

Cheap laptop and you can't expect the battery to last long and 2 hours sounds about right.....

As for Celeron bashing - as said already theese are now generally ideal for many users it's just people keep remembering the lousy P4 based Celerons which were a bit rubbish but these Core based Celerons are fine. These Celerons are simply Core2 CPU's with some features disabled & performance reduced.

Oh and don't let that poster service my diesel!

Still got quite a few left at the Hedge end store, personally I think the Asus at Argos at 300 is worth the extra...
#21
Just got one for my Mum at Thurrock. They only have Optimised versions left, which are another £20

They set up the laptop to allow easy start-up and something to do with transfer of your files from old computers on line???
If you want one they have them but are now £269 :(
you can join some direct debit scheme for £6.99 and cancel it after the first payment and have the fee waved though.
#22
Sounds like they just want an extra £20... nothing difficult about starting a new laptop..... just makes the Argos one even better. Or perhaps the little Toshiba T130 on Amazon or the £350 Asus at carphone warehouse.

Got one of these today, the store price says 300 but was 250 at the till.
