Single core and only 1GB or RAM. TBH, I think you can get dual core and 2GB RAM for this money.

win 764bit installed.....bit hopeful with this spec!!

still good price

nicebutdim, you clearly know nothing.......you wont get much else at this price which only a small amount over some netbooks

I'd say this is not a bad deal if somebody needs a budget laptop. The Celeron is a bit slow but its a 2.2GHz CPU so should be fine for browsing et al.
Needs another 1GB memory.

I have to agree with NiceButDim - this represents prety poor value in my eyes, although granted you might not get much cheaper for a fully-fledged laptop. Save up another 50 or thereabouts and get the Compaq cq56 at 300-ish inc. cashback (dual core, 3GB ram) or if you can handle refurbs, the cheaper l450 at argos is better (dual core, 2gb ram). Still, you pays your money...

Can you provide links to the two laptops referred to?

I haven't looked at them in any detail but the "headline" specs seem ok. TBH there will probably be better deals around sooner or later but you need to dig around and be quick off the mark! I did my searching a few month back and ended up with a nice deal (although my budget was slightly higher).

Thanks,

The Compaq appears to be out of stock now, however the Argos alternative looks good.

Excellent price and some posters know nothing about computer or are processor fanboys. I bought one and have ordered 2GB of RAM from Mr Memory for £23. The lappy has free delivery and with the extra RAM will run any application, inclduing Office 2010, easily. You will NOT notice that the processor is a Celeron and for what most people wnat (surfing, typing letters etc..) this is excellent value. Anyone trying to compare processors on any machine that is not built for gaming has no knowledge of computing.

For the OP - You should assume sometime soon you are going to want to increase your RAM to 2GB, so I'd factor that into your budget. The single core celeron is a bit lame. The deal isn't bad but I honestly believe, you can proably get a dual core and 2GB for around the same money - you certainly can if you are prepared to take a refurb from a reputable outlet. I paid about £255 for a refurb from Argos's ebay outlet about 6 weeks ago and it was 'as new'. But as someone also said, its an okay machine and as a present is probably fine.

Well, I decided against this due to the single core, but seems like many others have gone for it as he has now sold 570 of these!

Link is not allowed for some reason (this was posted before!!!!!)
Search for item number 330485435891 on your "favourite auction site". It's am Argos item. This is the best I can do. If you cant find it, send me a pm.
