This is a great spec Laptop incl full numeric key pad and great value for the money. . . .. . but still has one fundamental design fault and that is the power supply socket this socket it prone to get broken. My family had a few Toshibas all had the same problem the power supply socket has had to be replaced.

If you look very closely you will see how the center pin is close to the edge of socket and easily bent ( if you don't insert the plug in carefully ) many laptop use the same type of socket but the pin is not so easily bent as its Deep inside the socket. The Lenovo which I have the pin is on the mains unit so if it did break you can replace and not have to sent the whole laptop for repair

I would be interested to know how many others have had a similar problem such as this

Regardless of when it was posted or when it says it expires, it doesn't work.

had 3 toshiba laptops never had that problem found them to be very robust and good build quality but that did happen on my hp laptop. You think this is a good spec wow!!!! a shocking processor and 1gb of ram this is probably the worst spec laptop you will be able to find i would rather go with out or spend £50 for a better spec or an extra £100 and get one with a 3 yr guarantee.argos on the bay for £50 and argos store £100 acer with 3 yr warranty not the best spec but a lot better than this and the 3 yr warranty is well worth it.(never thought i would be recommending argos for laptops!!)

If I do buy this laptop, I would be upgrading the RAM (think 8 gb max) so this isn't an issue for me. The processor not too sure about. I had a Toshiba laptop that got stolen on holiday and never had a problem with it. I upgraded the RAM and it was fanstastic. I don't play games on my PC so it's just for normal use/internet. Will this processor do?

What's "shocking" about the CPU? Sure it isn't high end but then it's not pretending to be. How many N270 Atom netbooks have sold with a much slower CPU? For e-mail, word processing & browsing, it's absolutely fine.

What is slightly shocking is shipping it with only 1GB of RAM & W7 64 bit. Even MS say 2GB minimum & we all know how they are somewhat optimistic with their minimum specs for an OS!

Stick another 2GB in it (around £15 on play) & you have a very usable machine - for what it's intended to do.

I agree its just a big netbook, 1gb of ram is shocking and if you upgrade this then yep good netbook but my 4 yr old laptop has a faster processor, do not think you will find a worse processor in any new laptop..I would just would rather spend £50 and get an half decent laptop that can do a lot more on but depends what you want it for.

Considering the price of some netbooks i've seen recently, this is pretty decent. Not much more than a netbook cost wise, and it's obviously a full laptop.

Couldn't resist and bought one. Thanks for all your comments - it helps a great deal. I will now go in search of a 2gb mem from Play. Heat added

That's desktop RAM (DIMM) you need 204 pin SODIMM.

This one will do or you can pay a little more for a "name" like Crucial or Kingston.
