To your human eye - you won't feel anything different from i5.

Will I feel it in my bones? Is it worth splashing out the extra £60?
#6
It's only showing 50 quid cashback at the moment on the Toshi link....?

Is this like Amazon with a cash back on a trade-in laptop, or just cash back?? sounds a very good deal...

Probably not. Unless you have loads of money to spare. If I were to choose to have 6gb of ram and i3 or 3gb of ram and have i5, I'd choose the first one. It's pointless having i5 where there's not much to do with it.

alot easier to add ram at a later date than to change from i3 to i5 though

My most recent laptop is Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 - 11P and I have had it for quiet some time now (nearly 3 years) and is still going strong. Haven't had a single problem yet so from my experience Toshiba are pretty reliable.

The Toshiba on laptopsdirect is actually £170 more than this one. There is a * next to the price that says £100 off (if you trade in your old toshiba laptop). Small print on that offer is that the toshiba you trade in has to be relatively new to get the full amount off.

Very good deal.
Toshiba's laptops are tough!
But what do you do with 6GB RAM?
I have 500MB on mine and never use more than half

You're probably right; the i5-430 non-turbo is only 2.26Ghz compared to the i3's 2.13Ghz, if you're running tasks that don't properly use 4 threads then the i5s turbo boost to 2.53Ghz might make a significant difference.

I don't think the ram is a factor (3Gb and 1GB graphics memory is enough for most folks?); for me the 500GB HDD would be useful - enough space to play with dual-boot or keep a small part of your dvd collection on.

These are good value with the £100 cash-back.

It seems there might be an inherent fault effecting the keyboard for the l670 model which could explain its good value.

Not sure what the fault is but have to admit am not overly fussed on the keyboard. When you type in the middle it tends to be quite flexible/bendy/bouncy! maybe i'll get used to it - then again i'll have to now ive splashed the cash! Am pleased with it apart from this.

found alot of flex with the L series when trailing pc world randomly slapping keys, slightly worse than dells. A series keys are pretty good but more pricey.
still a good package for the cash though

Well as long as it's a good deal i'll live with it and be consoled with getting vfm - at the end of the day choosing a new one has been a minefield as it's predecessor was a nice hp won in a competition about 6-7yrs ago.

I should explain, while researching variations of the model came across complaints about mistyping or lag.
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=54917&start=0&tstart=0

But if things seems ok, that's good to hear as I wouldn't mind one myself though if there's problem before you claim the cashback and send to tosh for repair, the cashback become null and void!

crossway would you mind giving us a review? particularly the screen do the colours look natural and are blacks deep or seem greyish?
cheers

Am happy to help but have to admit I wouldn't really know where to start as if i'm honest took the decision on this based mostly on the heat this deal was getting and knowing that anything was going to be better now than my old 40gb 7yr old hp. Am not that clued up on technology but if there is anything you think i can do to help - email you some screenshots or something then i'm more than happy to as in terms of colours wouldnt know what was good or bad - sorry!

Anyone else gone this deal or dealt with this company...Good or Bad???
#32
Wow check crossways post above, was thinking of getting this for my daughter but given all the issues and lack of service from Toshiba sounds like a brand to avoid which is surprising.

Was impressed with delivery, emailed an hourly slot it would arrive and it did! Only issue i've got is that should have received some free Internet Security but didnt. Emailed and advised I'd unticked the option for this but can't see where i could do that. Told i could have it for £2 delivery but have queried this but no reply after a week. Laptop good, getting used to it as so used to my old machine and system it's taking time. Downside only the spongy keypad. Doesnt make typing any problem but just a bit strange to me and strikes me as cheap when you expect a nice solid key!

Has anyone received the actual cashback from Toshiba rather than the cashback for trading in an old laptop? Tempted by this deal but worried about not getting the £100 cashback.

Cheers
