Mine overheated after a couple of years because I used it on lap, bed etc and it sucked up all the fluff. Took fan out and removed fluff to fix the problem. Pretty much every laptop that's overheated has had the same problem (except one that hadn't had enough thermal paste applied in the factory!)

Looks to suffer the same hinge problems as the previous G570/G575 see this article >

If so, I'd definitely avoid.

If that 1005M is removable then I would trade it with a 2020M.

I have recently upgraded a B960 on Toshiba laptop to 2020M. both of them can run HD720 to the least.

If you use "visual intensity", please consider getting something that come with dedicated GPU.

despite the ranting from pro-celeron, no thanks.
Its not a bad cpu, just NOT good enough for what even a middling use requires (video for example) may be wrong, but....
Besides. Ive had a Toshiba i5 laptop and it overheated disgracefully and BSOD'd way too often. Went back and got money back.
Dubious about Toshiba ever since, and apparently its a deserved rep

Not even a gigabit Ethernet? Surely that's to be expected! Maybe not USB3 but gigabit is much more common.

I've noticed the same thing with HP. This was a few years back though so they may have improved now.

Maybe you had a duff one? Or a model that had known faults? This one may be fine?

A mate of mine used to always go on and on about Toshiba laptops being thee most reliable and how long he had his old still working Toshiba laptop.

As a result when buying a new laptop, I ended up buying a Toshiba A-110 laptop that was poted on here in 2006

That laptop was and still is my one and only. It has been used all day almost every day since and works like the day I opened the box

Toshiba every time for me

Wife drove her car over her Toshiba laptop, not a scratch. Would have no problems recommending one. As said if it overheats its most likely crap in the fan or your using it in such away the vents are blocked.

I don't see the point of gigabit on this though? It's highly unlikely the hard drive (or the processor) would actually be good enough to make the most of gigabit.

I must have installed and supported over 10,000 Toshiba laptops and much prefer them to other brands such as Lenovo and HP. I bought my wife a similar model to this (also a refurb) and it's never had a single problem.

I bought my son this laptop, been using it no issues for 8 months, great price for what you get. I used to buy Toshiba laptops for work and they were always reliable, never remember one failing.

Wow a Celeron 1005M. Nice and slow processor, no wonder it's cheap.
