Hmmmm.... add it to your basket and it adds at £51.06, then it adds the shipping at £12, then the Vat at £9.46 making a less bargainitous total of £72.52!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Aha, add the code and it does indeed remove all the fluff and return it to £49.99!

The page I looked at says BOXING DAY SPECIAL OFFER whereas MY calendar say it's the 28th now though text does say while stocks last...

On the same page is reference to what I think you're better off looking at = this ongoing Comet HOT-UK-D

unless you're keen on that USB usage.

Col - why would you prefer the Philips to the Toshiba? Looking for your wisdom & guidance... My old cheapo from Maplins has the remote not working, and I am looking for a decent replacement

Why worry about multi-region, when this thing plays divx...?

I bought one of these from Amazon just before Christmas - not Multi-Region though. A lot of the reviewers said that they were able to use their external hard drives in the USB port but mine doesn't work. I have a WD Passport 160GB which is formatted as FAT32 - has anyone else had problems connecting similar drives to the USB port on the SD580? Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks for any help you can give this newbie!

At a guess Id say an external hard drive would only work if it had a seperate power supply (which Im assuming your Passport doesnt) as its highly unlikely the DVD player will be able to put enough juice through the USB port to power a portable Hard Drive.

The SD480 doesn't have the all important USB connector ;-)
