glowing reviews for the 250gb model

Toshiba are still one of the top drive manufacturers:

This is a great price for a high end drive / enclosure

Good price for the 1.8" drive alone; the shiney caddy is a bonus!

:edit:

Don't forget 3% quidco cashback.

That hard drive has a form factor of 2.5", this one is a much smaller 1.8".

Is it possible to take it apart and use it as an internal hard drive? If so, what interface it has? Cheers.

Micro SATA. Also runs at 3.3v not 5v. Most laptops should be fine, but some older ones don't have power to pins 1+2 on the SATA interface so check with a multi meter first or check with the manufacturer/manual.

I am actually looking for a ZIF one (I know!) to upgrade my lappy. Thanks a lot for the information. Cheers.

I got one of these about 2 years ago, and they are quite good. But for the price they arent much smaller than a 2.5" 500gb portable which I use more.

1.8 inch is less than 5cm...

dimensions: 6.0cm (W) x 9.1cm (D) x 1.0cm (H) - Weight 0.1kg

Where is the 1.8inch coming from??
#14
the disk inside is 1.8"... 6cm after case added.

I think you are mistaken, since the only 1.8" Toshiba drives on base.com are 120GB. I'm assuming that you're getting confused by the 250GB 2.5" Toshiba drive that is also encased in stainless steel.

They look good but they're a bit expensive for 160gb
#17
most people would have some bag to carry their lappy in, so a good compromise in fomr factor vs weight vs size vs capacity are the 2.5 inch drives...

...unless you really carry them in your pocket then definitely this is good. :)

I bought the Samsung S1 1.8" 250GB 2 months ago from orangeaccessories, was only about £33 delivered so this doesn't seem a huge bargain to me....

They have 2 at the moment saying coming soon for £36 but not sure if it will be instock ever as it is a bit of a poor company, but glad I got that one order come through:
