How would this fair at browsing the internet, listening to music (i have external speakers), doing work, playing football manager?

My PC at the moment can obviously do that at a speed similar to a snail, however it cannot play any games before 2003.

hot, don't forget quidco too...

p.s. It seems that Comet has very good prices for a lots of good stuff.I think they are better than Dixons/Currys now

Also curious. My desktop is slowly crapping out on me and was thinking of a laptop as a replacement.
I play a few RTS games and would like to know how laptops handle them. Obviously not expecting this to play Startcraft 2 (would be nice though).

Im looking for a similar answer.

The best ive found is "The SU4100 is about twice the processor of the atom in the 311c, but the ion is about 3 times better than the 4500M"
This should play HD video, but you can play cod4:MW and a couple of other decent games produced before a couple years ago on the 311c, wouldnt stand a chance on this.

This looks like a good deal - have some heat

I wonder which would be better for visual studio and browsing the web, This with a ULV or the 311c with ION with better graphics... GPU accelerated web browsers and flash videos i recon the 311c would be better on the web.
#17
As far as I remember 311c doesn't have a Dual core processor and also battery life was lot less than 9 hrs and also the screen size was smaller ... BUT it had ION GPU ???
#18
This will play 1080p with no difficulty

You can play high bit rate 1080p fine with this cpu and chipset. You can also play games like Spore on native resolution with all the game graphic options set to low.

I don't think so, while there is some progress on GPU accelerated web content it's nowhere near enough to make up for the performance defiency the Atom processor has against the dual core ULV processor.

Hi GUys,
The specs look great especially the ram, But can anyone comment on the processor speed which is 1.3ghz will that make it a slow laptop. pls comment with facts

I'm looking for an upgrade for my 13 inch vaio (old model VGN-S5HP/B) and I'm very tempted by this! I use an old Toshiba laptop at work, and have always been impressed by the battery life on it even now when its a good 4 year old (compared to my Vaio's which I'm lucky if it lasts 30M).

Slow compared to what? There are 3 types of mobile processors nowadays

1: Netbook (cheapest and slowest)
2: ULV & LV (for thin and light laptops, combine decent performance with big battery life)
3: Full Fat (regular CPU's, performance is main criteria)

Hot deal though.

I bought this about 6 months ago for £450. Don't know about games, but Photoshop is fast and clear enough. Battery life is still fantastic and very lightweight and portable. My only complaint is that because I mainly use it to read and write documents I don't like the widescreen. Even ebay and Huk needs constant scrollling and the extra width is wasted. Very good for price. I added a portable slimline CD writer for £50.
#37
the 9 hour battery is when it is on power save move (after 10 minute screensaver) so it will only give you about 1-2 hours heavy use battery.

It seems they do. Didn't know that.

Seems in a bit of a no mans land to me... 13.3 is laptop sized but too big for a netbook. At 13.3 I would want a laptop, but no DVD drive and slow processor makes it more power netbook spec. On the other hand for a netbook, 11.6in is tops for lightweight carry anywhere. It will suit some folks, but 13.3 needs thinking about. Good find though...and Toshiba quality.
