Hi , top post voted hot and repped.

This sounds like a stupid question is this the orange store at the mall or is this for sell in another mobile phone store? Obviously there are quite a few places that would sell a orange PAYG phone
banned#4
yes the one in the mall cribbs causway

Tried to get through to the Aberdeen, Falkirk and Glasgow stores but no joy. So if anyone else has managed to find out if this is nationwide it'd be really good to know.

Cheers :santa:
#6
someone posted earlier about orange half price payg sale. TG01 was quoted as due to be £199. Though not available online.
#7
It is reduced to £149 nationwide in ALL Orange stores nationwide, we had 3 in my Orange store today in Glasgow and they all sold out.
Orange worker ;-)

Good phone when you install the new windows mobile, however the sound is guff if your buying to watch movies on unless your using headphones.
#8
Got one of these today (metrocentre), real bargain but had to add £10 pay as you go to buy, still a good deal though
#10
this seems a good price for a phone with win mob 6.5, 800 x 480 pixels screen, 1ghz processor and 7.2 HSDPA.

.save your wonga!! , i'm on my fifth one from Orange ..£350 4 mths ago...call quality is terrible ....the person on the other side will complain of knocking noises / warbling sounds during calls or simply give up & hang up 'cos they can't hear you
These handsets are good for internet access but believe me the radios on these are pants ..and call quality is really poor..just google "TG01 call quality" ...suggestions on improving call quality have been as diverse as blowing into & yes sucking the microphone area, forcing the phone into GSM mode only via settings , forcing the phone into 3G mode only , setting the snapdragon processor to eco mode , full power mode , the list goes on ................... nothing has worked ..the answer may lie in the fact that the radios for these devices were originally optimised for the orange-france-network. I mess with windows mobiles all the time & flash & reflash the firmware all the time and know a bit about them ..different geographical radios can affect battery life & call quality in different countries & different networks .. currently have a HTC Touch Pro flashed with WM6.5 & pimped up
You have been warned about the Tosh !!

Was considering this, so much appreciate the personal feedback on its performance.

p.s.
..if against all advice you decide to go ahead & get one then you can get network unlockcode to allow non-orange sim use for a tenner (£10 )via this chap(vitamise) ..he's pretty good & will get you the code in half hour.He happens to be the cheapest around too ...much cheaper & reliable than the online servers in poland & other places. cost me £50 in all to unlock each successive replacement handset that orange sent out!

drop him an email at [email protected]">[email protected]

this phone has mysteriously sold a number of times on ebay for exactly £300 with just one bid, someone trying to bump the value up i think
#15
Good deal I reckon if you know you like it but I did also have one of these, for about 3 days! Never again! It told me that I needed to update, so did as said and plugged it into my lappy! Well let's say neither the phone nor laptop worked after that! I sent it back to Orange (who were unusually good about accepting it back strangely enough) and took me 3 days to sort my laptop out (thank goodness I kinda know what i'm doing there or it may have cost a bomb). I practically needed two hands to hold the damn thing too! Needless to say, I went to the other extreme and got the Armani back! Sticking with that!!

their only selling because it has the snap dragon processor.

better waiting for the bigger mobile phone companies such as HTC, Nokia, and Samsung. Not a bad deal though on a new mobile phone, shame its a winmo :)

Slightly off-topic, but is there any need to type with a capital at the start of every word?

Is this in-store only, or has anyone had an joy over via the call centre?

He typed his post with caps lock on - the forums automatically change caps lock posts to the above (every word beginning with a capital letter). It is a little bit less annoying than the entire thing being in caps.

I would disagree - they need to learn to turn their caps lock off...

Not a good 1st ever post mate!

Anyway, this phone's intriguing with its look-at-me touchscreen. The Orange shop in Walthamstow told me they didn't have them and that the phone is riddled with issues, plus discontinued. If it does have chronic problems then it's a risk to buy...

Heat added. Nice Phone and was the first with 1gz processor.

What network is the htc touch hd 2 on in the uk? Orange dont seem to have it .

I'm pretty sure that the HD2 is available on O2.

You cannot really compare the HD2 with the TG01 - the HD2 has a Capacitive screen (which is why I'll never buy one, despite being very happy with my Touch HD), whereas the TG01 has a Resistive screen.

If Only All Forums Were As Clever As Hukd Regarding Caps :p

Does anybody know if this can be unlocked?

Saw this phone few weeks ago in Orange shop. Liked the look, liked the specs, liked the brand, read the reviews, WALKED AWAY. Then came the HTC S740 deal. Managed to get one. Have had no regrets.
#35
amazing price for a snapdragon phone!
#36
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!! Seriously, i got one of these a couple of months ago and sent it back due to poor call quality, phone dropping calls, problems when coming out of sleep mode etc, the list goes on and on. I was sent a replacement and that was exactly the same. I got one for the processor but coud never run at optimum settings due to very poor battery life (i think it lasted about 12-14 hours before it needed charging). Anyway, in the end i changed it for an HTC Hero and wish i got one straight away, no problems whatsoever!
#37
I am still in confusion, should I buy this phone or not. People saying this is a rubbish phone but voting hot . Please can any one suggest me whether should I go or not ?

I deal indirectly with the Tosh UK mobile support contract and this is a phone and a half, upgrade to WM6.5 though and you should have no regrets, there are hotfixes about for most of the problems..
