I will be browsing, word processing and playing HD (1080p) movies; that's about it really. Is an i5 too powerful for my needs?

you should be able to do that on any new laptop. The only conern is to find something that has an output compatible with whatever you're viewing on (most likely HDMI?), which again almost all laptops will have. I have a £600 dell from 2009 that will easily do all of that, and I've just bought this as an upgrade!

If you plan on watching on the laptop, you'll be hard pressed finding a 14" with a 1080p screen (and theres no point).

You can probably match the performance of this laptop with some of the other deals around £250, but I'm willing to pay more for because its quite compact. If thats not important to you, just get a standard 15.6

Help,

I want a lightweight laptop as I travel with my work, I am an inspector so I write loads of reports. I started using Dragon recognition this year and read & write which cuts down on loads of time for me. I want to buy a laptop which work alongside these two items, I don't need fast for gaming or anything with fancy lights on if you know what I mean. Any suggestions, price is important!
