I've already tried one of Lovefilms 3 month trials in the past and cancelled it sometime in March, does this mean I wouldn't be able to get the 12 month free rentals if I bought this machine.
Please no speculation...just if anyone knows for sure:thumbsup:

I have this deal, the DVD,s are effectively free. It is a superb DVD player and can be made multi regional. Not quite blu ray but really good. Google it for more info!

wow thats some amount of hoops u need to jump through to get the love flim.. but it is a great deal!

When you click through the link it says the offer ends at the end of apr 2009. However, clicking through to the Toshibalovefilm website says that it ends on 31st May 2009:

http://www.toshibalovefilm.co.uk/tscs.asp?Home=agree%5Fto%5Fterms

Amazing deal.

I've already had a 3 month sub offer with Lovefilm though. However, I can't find anything in their terms and conditions that says that those who have previously had a free sub cannot take out this offer.

Anyone?

I have managed to copy some of my sisters DVDs before she went University: and they are some of my favourites. I understand that because I used DVD Shrink, that some have lost quality already, but some I have managed to keep the core film at 100% quality. Does anyone know if this player will just play them straight as usual DVDs, enhancing their image just as much? I'm assuming they would, as the software is purely compression, so where no compression has been necessary, no quality lost...

I've watched copied films done using DVD shrink on it and they all look good. Everything, new, copied etc seems to look good on this dvd player.

Only includes the 4 dvd's a month with no games package. It says in the terms that if at any stage you change the package up or down you will lose the remainder of the free period.
#16
Anyone know if it will play DivX/Xvid's ? - Sorry, just found the Divx logo on the Amazon page.

just bought the item. are u sure it comes with the hdmi lead?

even that package costs 7.82 a months costing 95 pounds a year..... so technically speaking ur paying nothing at all for the dvd and stilling getting lovefilm cheap...
#19
But there's a couple of things to be aware of that put me off buying this when it was featured last week ...

Unbelievably, it won't display 4:3 correctly. So all your older DVD's will actually look worse

Quite a few reviews say that it makes decently produced DVD's look awesome, but poorly produced ones look worse.

Worth bearing in mind

cant you get blu-ray players for close to this price now?

the lovefilm part is irrelevant as easy to get free rental for years anyway.
#27
dvd shrink is good but try convert XtoDVD and compare for outstanding quality also....

Am I being dumb or has the lovefilm element expired already?

Lovefilm offer:-
Restrictions apply, please see the full terms and conditions on the Toshiba website (what's this?), only valid for purchases between 25th September 2008 and close at midnight on 14th April 2009.
#29
Read the earlier post. The date on the actual offer page is different, it expires at the end of May. So the deal has not expired.

So it looks like as far as Toshiba are concerned the offer is still going.

I did read the offer page. It states you must apply before 31st May and ONLY if you have a qualifying toshiba product purchased BEFORE April 14th

fair enough

looks like the amazon page is ambiguous then. mind you, I'd rather buy a blu-ray player and get lovefilm for free.

i got this dvd player last Christmas and it does help to produce a good quality picture if you are watching old movies or those that are poor quality.. i would defo recommend. but i had payed a lot less..think it was about £45 including the 12 month love film.

"5.Your free trial is valid on the capped 4 disc DVD package only and this allows you 4 DVD rentals per month and 2 DVD’s at home at any one time"

Not that great then! :(

Plus it sure does seem a lot of hassle to get the actual offer. Could have been made alot easier by using a redemption page for entering the Players serial number or something.
#36
Price is now over £84 ! Expired or at least price increase if you want to keep this page going.
#38
price and merchant has now been changed I see as cheapest price now is £5 more than original deal. Link has not been corrected yet though. So I am pasting it here:

im happy i bought it last night at the cheaper price

Many thanks for the John Lewis link. The additional 12 months warranty is worth the extra £5 above the expired Amazon price.

If anyone isn't bothered about the John Lewis warranty, they can get this player for £65.09 from Pixmania: http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/2290592/art/toshiba/toshiba-xde500-dvdplay.html
