Looks like a good deal to me if you are looking for a cheap carp rod for fishing at range. I don't see many fishing deals on here so thought I would post one! Not sure how well it will be received.…

Having watched one of these explode under a 90 yard cast with a 2.5oz lead I would stay well clear. You are better buying http://www.climaxtackle.com/chub/s_plus_rods.htm a good quality starter rod with great tip action
I've had carp over 40lb on mine and cast 5-6oz leads when the water is running fast at the spot on the thames I fish.
Only difference is I use the sk3 12ft 3lb tc.

What's your name Duncan or Katch as far as I am aware only two people ever caught a 40lb carp from the thames

Never actually had a carp from the section of the thames I fish just barbel. I meant I've had 40lb carp on them and I throw big leads with them when I'm fishing the thames.

would this rod be any good for basic sea fishing ?

I wouldn't advise it. You can snag half decent sea rods for a tenner at sports direct or eBay.

Great deal, lifetime warranty on the Chub's too :p

I'm sure the sonics do as well, I know a good few people that use these rods and rate them highly. Have a Google of the reviews if you're looking at these and decide for yourself. Only down point is they're 2.5lb tc which may not suit everyone.
They also have shimano cx catana 3lb tc rods for £35 which looks a good buy.

Completely agree everyone has there own views on rods. I fish with Berkley B1's which get terrible reviews but I would not change them for the world, each to there own. As with everything you can only speak from experience.
