Not bad, thanks !

I managed to resist the 8gb version of this when it was £50 just recently.... don't know if I can hold out though. I do really want an ipod touch but for £59.99 I might just have to get one.

Not according to this comment on the TrustedReviews site:

I bought this player at before Christmas after reading the glowing review on this site. Overall I'm sort of happy with it, great file support, excellent sound output and amazing screen but there are huge problems with it.

Battery life is the first issue. Samsung site claims 25 hours audio playback and 5 hours video playback. I know stats are usually slightly exaggerated but I found audio playback to be around 6 hours and video playback about 3 hours this is with bluetooth off. This is a huge kick in the teeth.

Next problem was interface stability. This machine crashes a lot. Often just when pressing the hold button or changing tracks. This problem occurs at least once a day. I've started to wince every time I do something with the fear of it crashing or just freezing up. Sometimes you can't restart it until you connect it to your pc. But usually it restarts with a recovering firmware message which usually takes about 1 or 2 minutes. I've updated the firmware to 3.0 but this hasn't fixed the problems.

When I was deciding to buy this I was really interested in the TV out feature. But upon arrival No cable was supplied or even mentioned, no guide either. I went to currys and picked up a 3.5mm jack and the other side with a composite connexion but I haven't got it to work yet....

All in all it is a great player let down by what I feel is a slapdash approach by Samsung. There is practically ZERO support for this player in box or online and this clearly demonstrates their attitude to their customers. "Pump the products out and worry about testing later" was clearly their approach. Perhaps they put a sticker saying "beta version" on this product because it's obviously a work in progress.

Bit of a shame really.

Bought one a couple of months back. Very good player at half the price of the crap turned out by Apple.

Hot hot hot.

I tried both of the £5 off £50 codes but neither work with this samsung player. However, I did add a £5 toy to the basket and then applied the code and it reduced the price of the toy to zero.

Looks very nice for the money, shame I don't need one at the moment really.

Excellent 16gb is really usable and much better bargain that the 8gb one that was posterd here earlier. Voted hot. It also plays xvid and divx the ones you need most for playing net content.

Aaaarrgh!!! I just bought this on Wednesday for 80 smackers............What a feeling!
Heat added.
Just a word of warning though.
It come with firmware 1.1, I think.
If you upgrade it, you'll loose a lot of wallpapers, themes etc.
BACKUP everything before you do.
Otherwise you're left with a sparse set of features which I now have.

If you already have installed bbc iplayer on your pc you need to go to bbc iplayer website.
find what you wanna download then look just below the video and your see it say ""download and below that "more downloads" , click on "more downloads" and then click on portable device then just follow what it says from there :)

it transfers via usb i believe.

Hi. What I find is support is a bit off in the UK.
I had trouble listing it on the Samsung UK website yesterday.
Emodio is weird software for me at the mo.
Also, thanks for the forum support links, seem to have some things i'm after.

BBC iplayer website offers bespoke downloads for this device, and some others.

I've had the 16Gb for 6 months - absolutely first class, and with much better sound quality than any iPod I've owned. The bundled earphones are decent too - no real need to upgrade.

Great Post, I have added Bram Stoker's Dracula Blu-Ray and got 5 pounds off using the code. So total 60 pounds for mp3 player and desent blu-ray is great buy!!
