Just bought a car and wanted to share this with you guys...

"The new AYGO Blue offers a high specification including Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free use of mobile phones, air conditioning is also provided as standard. The Blue theme is fully intergrated internally with blue vent and dial surrounds, leather gear knob and carpet mats with contrasting blue stitching."

Now this is not a new offer but I did not find it anywhere in HUDS.. Sorry if this was posted before...

The price of £7995 is for a new toyota 3 door ayga blue manual standard.. and to be honest when I looked at it. it looks far away from standard.. CD player Blue tooth, AC, everything that a car needs.. Plus, its a class A insurance so its not that expensive to insure.

Moreover, this is sticker price so I guess with some talk you can get it for cheaper.

Be kind and thanks a lot

Damn, you paid list price for a car? You've just been mugged - I hope you got a very good APR on the finance if thats the case, or did you pay cash? Either way, thats alot of dollar!

Don't normally post car deals on HUKD as negotiation is a very personal skill.

I would have called at least 12 Toyota dealers and see what they would have offered me, then took each quote to the next one to get them to beat it. There are always dealers desperate to meet their targets. In fact January is a bad month to negotiate to buy as they are quite busy meeting their targets with the 08 reg change on March 1st. In December a lot will rollover and beg for your money!

PS - Were you aware the Fiat 500 comes out in 2 weeks, much more chic and cute and will hold its value much better - the 3 year value of the Aygo Blue is just over 3k, whereas the 500 will have depreciation like the new Mini.

Actually I have called alot of other car companies... and I got this as the best deal for a decent new car.. about the price I paid thats not the price I put in this deal. I put the actual price but as you said skill will get you cheaper cars...

Show me another new car that is cheaper.. take into mind I am not including British cars as I dont like them...

the fuel consumption on this car is also very very good.

Anyways I am happy with the deal I got and by the way these cars are almost sold out and if you put an order you might have to wait for it.. so I guess im not the only one..

I also paid cash as I am kinda rich lol

cheers

Well I just got a Fiat Panda for my Aunt - she picks it up next week, list price of £7979 with metallic, I got it for £5650 including metallic -.
Other cars similar spec:
Ford Ka, these are floating just over the £5k mark for a new one.
Fiat 500 1.2 POP - £7900, no A/C or B/T standard, but after 3 years the car will be worth over £1000 more.
The Citroen C1 Cool, identical to your car, built in the same factory, same engine, with A/C, it lists around £7500, you can get a new one for around £6500.

The Toyotas are good cars which is probably why they are always near to the top of the reliability leagues. I think it's a pretty good price for a decent make of car.
I don't have a Toyota or a Fiat but given the choice, I would go for the Toyota every time. Fiats have terrible reliability and build quality issues.....IMHO

Because most people who use this site are looking for a bargain such as a DVD for £2.99 or a bogof jar of coffee.

And paying list price for something - if it be a car or a DVD is not really a 'hot' deal

I think the other thing you have to be aware of is that the majority of people who use this site, do not have £8k available to spend on a car so there may also be an element of envy involved.

Just doing a quick search on Autotrader chucks up better deals than this...and thats without making much of an effort at all!

I think that there comes a time when the OP has to accept that they posted a duffer and just let it die a quiet death. Some people don't know when that point is.

Fiat build two of the best small cars in the world in the panda and new 500, go and do your research before making silly generalisations, 5 minutes will find stuff like this.

agreed re: January.....i bought a Peugeot 307xsi 5 years ago - theyd only been out just over a year...agreed a price of £12995 (list 16200 inc met paint) if i agreed to pay for before 31/12/07 and pick it up in january when they expected another delivery (waited until 17/1)...although i had the cash, i also got 0% over 3 years, so by putting my hard earned cash in a high interest account in effect the car cost me about 12500....a year old car was on the forecourt with 6k miles for 13995!!

I think the problem is, listing anything at RRP or List price on a deal website isn't a deal.
It's a bit like saying, you can get a DVD for £22.99 but might be able to get it cheaper by shopping around.
#22
My mate got this deal in december for £6500 inc 12 months road tax and extended warrenty, floor mats and even a fragrance dangly thing.

They really do beg for your money in December.

...but unfortunately it's still a FIAT..
I did put 'in my opinion'... rather than the opinion of the manufacturer's propaganda, but thanks for your input, I'll take note for next time.

If you look really hard you can also find a great price on a YARIS SR starting from a budget busting £10,795 surely this has to be hot I mean it is a Toyota after all!

WTF

Ok for all those who are in the market for a small economical Japanese car and lack the ability to negotiate and the inability to go to your local car dealership or there websites I guess this is the deal is for you but for all those who do not liked to be bent over and spanked hard by a car salesman (THE MAJORITY) what a waste of firkin time!

OP you do not happen to own or work at a Toyota dealership do you, because that’s the only reason I could see someone posting this **** poor deal!

It might not be the cheapest, but it's not a totally bad deal.

Now I have learned something I never knew before - that December is a good month to buy a new car. What other months are good, and how do I get the best price out of them? I've never bought a brand new car before and I wouldn't be thinking of paying over 8k. Because I don't know much about buying anything but old heaps, how do I find which cars might come in at under budget, and how do I then get the keenest price?

Or should I buy one that's an ex-demo or one year old to avoid the worst year of depreciation?

Advice please! :D

Best buys tend to be pre-registered stock and, if you want a good deal on them, go along around 20th of month. Most larger dealers seem to work on calendar monthly targets so the salesmen are getting desperate if sales are slow by then. They need you to take delivery before end of month so will often drop price quite substantially to get a quick sale.

Nothing wrong with year old cars and usually good savings on new if you use one of the big dealers (Evans Halshaw, D C Cook etc) or the supermarkets (Motorpoint, Trade Sales or whoevers got the lowest price on what you want). Worth looking on autotrader.co.uk to get an idea of prices.

You need to be flexible about make, model and colour if you want to save a lot of money. I bought a basic 3 door 56 reg Fiat Grande Punto with 4 miles on clock for £5.5k a month ago. Now that's a real bargain. Even if it is a Fiat

Well how do we know if the new 500 will be reliable? Well we dont... We also dont know what its value will be in 3 years time? They guess.

Well Im not sure what country you guys are in but as of yet I cant see the need for air con or blue tooth.
Thats why I run a Citroen C1 vibe. It cost me £6k and is in black. So it will be worth £3k in 3 years so £1k a year but as I get 60mpg, £35 road tax and £120 for my insurance it works out as cheap as running a bannger apart from I know I can walk outside now and know it will start first time.

So on the deal save yourself 25% and buy the base model and you will still be getting 99% of the bennifits of the car.

I've voted the Citroen C1 Vibe 'hot', especially in summer with no air con ;-)

The OP just wanted to let us know he'd bought a new car, that's all.
#35
I haven't voted, and even I did it wouldn't make much difference to the outcome.

Don't be too dishearted about the coldness of the deals - cars just aren't something that gets posted on here too often. It's just not that kind of site. :)

British cars??? That doesn't really mean anything nowadays, but British manufactured cars include Honda, Nissan & Toyota, Morgan, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, but not most/any Ford or Vauxhall (apart from possibly Astra at Ellesmere Port).
The Aygo is made on the same production line in the Czech Republic as the Citreon C1 and Peugeot 107, so it's either the best built French car or worst built Toyota.
Oh and I think most Volvo and Saab are now made in Belgium.
