I think the one starrers have valid reasons for doing so, don't you ?

Very tempted as this is an excellent price-but seem abit unreliable & non compatibility with other brands of HomePlug alliance is a worry
heat given but not going to buy
#4
I'm tempted by these, how many watts they use and do they go into stanby when your PC is off?
#5
thanks 2pairs ordered! Heat added!

Spend a bit of time running some cat5/6 neatly and know it wont cost a thing to run and will always work.
#7
Ordered, thanks

Been waiting for these to drop.

I've never used these before so am hoping that someone can enlighten me? We have a Netgear ADSL modem/router connecting several PC's in the house via LAN and Wifi, do these homplugs work alongside such a setup?

If you have a spare LAN plug-in point on your modem/router then yes these will work just fine.
You need 1 plug in point on back of your modem/router to run to a plug-in network device which you plug into the wall (think of that one as your master plug-in point), then it is up to you how many others you buy & plug-in around the home.
I also use a mix of wi-fi, LAN plug in (for my main PC) and these home plug network devices (mine are 85Mbps.....and I've yet to see a speed issue with them yet).

Whether these particular ones are good or not I have no idea but as a general concept it's a fantastic idea as far as I'm concerned.
Brilliant for homes with wi-fi deadspots etc etc.

ahh my fault shoory guys it was me just ordered :)

Thanks OP. Amazon has now put up the price to £39.99. I have one for Play.com
#19
Gixxerman, thanks very much for that.
From what I've read. the homeplug requires it's own socket, i.e not on an extension lead ... that's a bummer!

I run Homeplugs on extensions with no issues. You may have issues with certain surge protection extensions but most are fine. This is a hot deal.

In a small property that may be an option but not for all.

BradShort, that's convinced me to order a pair, thank you. :-)

#27
Yes, I also ordered via Play, usually despatched in 24 hours.
#28
Deapstch time is 1 to 2 Months....................
#29
ordered through amazon albeit with a 1 - 2 months waiting time- but experience has shown that even amazon say that, the thing normally is despatched within a couple of weeks (happened with my lg tele, my brabantia bin and gawd knows how many other things) much rather deal with amazon time and time again cos i love 'em for their great customer service.

200mb is a play on words with most homeplugs, you wont see 200mb throughput I highly doubt. 100mb full duplex i.e send and receive at same time down different wires is how they advertise as 200mb. so your normal NIC card from PC to a switch or router is operating at 200mb in theory, yet usually described as 100mb. wireless operates at half duplex it can only send or receive. hence the degradation in performance.
slightly better explained:

Silly question but it says "Single unit Pack" and "Adapter". I know the link and picture denotes twin, but just wanted to check. If it is twin, that is hot!
#38
Just phoned Play and if you ordered yesterday, thinking you were getting a twin pack they just told me they are not twin packs, just a single. My email order confirmation from them states...TP-Link TL-PA201 200Mbps HomePlug Powerline Ethernet Adapter / Twin Pack. they said i would only receive a single pack.
