Available to ship from Amazon from 17 January 2011, but you can order now.

While admittedly this might be an uninspiring bit of kit compared to faster (Wireless N, gigabit Ethernet) technologies that are now available, its key feature is that it can act as a wireless bridge. This makes it a cheap alternative to the pricey official wireless adapters for old-style Xbox 360 consoles.

Seems to be priced at about £20 at other retailers.

Multi-Operating Modes
Supporting up to six operating modes; the TL-WA500G is the most versatile multimode access point.

AP mode: the most basic mode; enables you to build a wireless network;

Client Mode: connects an AP TL-WA500G to your game consoles; setop box or other multimedia devices that with Ethernet port; and join them into your current wireless network; easily making them WiFi enabled while eliminating the need of running unsightly cables and installing drivers;

Repeater: Boosts your wireless signal to the areas which previously hard to reach; greatly enlarging your wireless network coverage;

Bridge: Two or more TL-WA500G can make wireless bridges when you are joining some distant hard-to-wire places; providing a convenient and cost effective way for your network deployment.

eXtended Range
The TL-WA500G 54Mbps Wireless Access Point complies with the IEEE 802.11g/b standards and adopts eXtended Rangeâ"¢ technology so that transmission range is 4 times that of traditional 11g/b solutions.

With the most attentive wireless security; the TL-WA500G 54Mbps Wireless Access Point provides multiple protection measures. It can be set to turn off wireless network name (SSID) broadcast so that only stations that have the SSID can be connected. The AP provides wireless LAN 64/128/152-bit WEP encryption security; and WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK authentication and TKIP/AES encryption security.

anyone know how these work with a Humax Foxsat for streaming the iPlayer/ITV player?

would it work just similar to connecting a xbox?

Should do. I bought got one from Ebay yesterday (annoyingly) to use for the same purpose with a Sony TV, although it's currently not set-up due to (previously undiscovered) problems with my elderly router/AP.

If you're planning on using this as a client or a repeater (as I was/am) then be very careful to check (as I didn't) that your main router supports WDS. If not then you're in for hours and hours of painful and unsuccessful tinkering.

In theory these support non-WDS repeating, but in practise...

That said, buy two and you're in business - one as your main wireless AP (plugged into your router) and one as client or repeater.
ive a sky hub as my main AP....... WDS or not?
Sorry folks, looks like it's now out of stock. Hope some people benefited from the price while it lasted.
Great idea about using it to stream to your internet TV if you have one.
For anyone that missed out on this the first time round, it's back in stock at £16.67 again for immediate shipment.
anyone manage to connect one of these successfully with an xbox 1?
ordered one today cant wait to try it on the xbox 360
