You want to get a power over Ethernet and try that. Those generally work ok if you are both on same phase and connected together within 30m cable length

Wifi with directional antenna... I'm using an old d-link wifi adapter with a stick antenna to a sky router, got a good connection at 20metre, did try this 850re.... no where near!

I bought my Dad the 150Mbps model for £15 about a year ago. When it works it's OK but it does seem to go screwy quite often and need unplugging/replugging to reboot it.

The other problem is that halves the data transfer rate, something to do with having to use half for the connection between the devices (tablet, etc) and itself and the other half to connect with the router upstairs. So the devices only get 27Mbps instead of 54Mbps. Does the same apply to this device, as if not I might try it and see if it's more reliable?
