Thanks OP. You can't get the normal extra 16-25 railcard discount on top. So for standard class advances with 16-25 railcard, it's the same price. Where it does win, however is on first class advances with 16-25 as normally you can't get extra discount on those.

I doubt TPE will have this offer if one can only get the railcard in London as they don't go near London. The TPE and gov.uk both seem to imply it's available nationwide to any age.https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/support-to-help-with-the-cost-of-transport/support-to-help-with-the-cost-of-transport
It was available nationwide, then cut-back to London only. London has a much bigger transport budget (x3 per capita) than anywhere else in the UK.
You also get 4.5% topcashback and nectar points. Always worth checking the northern fares too as said above.
anything else job seekers want for nowt?

If I remember rightly. In order to receive a 'Jobcentre plus' railcard you must live within London and be under 24.
It's not available anywhere else in the UK for unemployed people. Very limited terms.

I think there's some confusion. The link for the offer for 25% off Advance TPE tix bought in next day for specific dates:
http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/special-offers/48-hour-flash-sale/

"The 25% discount applies to TransPennine Express Advance Purchase tickets bought between 12:00 Tuesday 3rd May and 12:00 Thursday 5th May 2016.
Tickets must be for travel between Wednesday 4th May and Saturday 23rd July 2016,
Bank holidays not included and must be purchased through the website link tpexpress.co.uk/flashsale.
Discount is only available on tickets routed TPE Only and TPE & Connections, not valid on any other types of tickets.
Not available on bank holiday date 30th May"

Can confirm it works as already bought Middlesbrough-York tix with 25% off :)
TPE tickets can be self-printed as A4 size National Rail tickets too for extra convenience for those with a printer handy!

Just tried again and exact same price as trainline £15.20

This offer (as is usually the case with train ticket offers) is only available on Advance fares. There are never any Advance fares available for Scunthorpe to Sheffield tickets, so you won't find any tickets cheaper than the off peak day return.

You can see all ticket types available for Scunthorpe to Sheffield here: http://www.brfares.com/#!fares?orig=SCU&dest=SHF

The only tickets available are ones you can buy at the station on the day you travel. So there's no advantage buying in advance unless you want cashback or nectar points, which you can get from the Transpennine website.

You should never buy tickets from Trainline. They're ALWAYS more expensive than buying direct from the train company because of the fees they add on. They don't have access to any cheaper fares than the train companies so they're just a rip off, using their misleading adverts to con people into paying more than they have to.

Will have a llok at this
NB: you MUST buy the tickets on their website by Sunday 10/4 and they say "tickets are limited" though whether thats the normal Advance allocation limit, or an extra 50% off limit isn't clear!

"The 50% discount applies to TransPennine Express Advance Purchase tickets only, bought between Monday 4th April and Sunday 10th April 2016 and must be purchased through the website link http://tpexpress.co.uk/halfpriceoffer

Here's a link to their website's TPE Network map to help you spot opportunities for " TPE Only and TPE & Connections" routes that this Advance tickets offer applies to.

http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/mediafile/100104134/tpenetworkmap_geo_may2014.pdf

In their journey planner the applicable (long-distance) Advance fares appear with a red asterisk
and "*promotional discount"
eg £8.25 from Manchester Picadilly to Glasgow Central (bi-hourly service)
from £10.85 from Liverpool Lime Street to Newcastle-upon-Tyne (hourly service)

When looking on their site for clues as to routes with Advance tickets, also found they have GENEROUS TERMS for advances from their Airports...
"The Airport Advance has replaced the Airport Getaway ticket. It is a single fare train ticket with the same terms and conditions as Advance tickets. Although the ticket is train specific, as a concession, journeys starting at Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport can be made up to 3hrs after the specified departure time, or on the next available TransPennine Express service, if proof of a delayed flight can be produced. This is the only difference to other Advance tickets. Should your flight be delayed, please ensure that you obtain documentation from your airline that this is the case."
Checked and the 50% discount offer DOES get applied to "Airport Advance" tickets too!
[Wish Virgin West Coast did that with Birmingham International fares!]

And the OP's Edinburgh-Manchester Airport is just an example of a fare - it applies to all their Advances that meet the T&Cs OP posted.

Used to love travelling around the UK on trains back in the days

...good times
Very true Zebo!!! If they had a stop at golcar I would probably risk it!!
Good offer, but families avoid taking the train on weekends in Colne Valley (Huddersfield) area due to ale trailers.
Might work for those born on 29th February
That's good offer, however if you already have a family railcard the 1/3 off your fare might be better value than the free child fare.

Me too . Zilch points added. (Nectar card number is correct)
Same here. Signed up for all 5 train lines on 23 April, got "thank you" emails; no Nectar points. On 28 April couldn't log in to a few of the sites, reset password on two sites, and got "account activation" email on another. Still no Nectar points. (Nectar card number is correct.)

Logging in is tricky; it says I am logged in but when I click on My account it asks for my password, I type in my password, then it redirects me to the "Register as new user" page, where on the right it already displays my name (so I *am* logged in and registered).

To answer my own question, the answer is yes it can be used towards any rail service within the UK.
Do these vouchers strictly have to be redeemed for transpennine services only??
Anyone got a spare code they don't want?

Thanks

The £10-off discount applies to advance purchase tickets bought on First TransPennine Express services only between Friday 28 February 2014 and Thursday 13 March 2014.

I looked last night on the normal website and today with the sale link, there isn't any difference in price.
What I really want is an open return as I am coming back from Manchester Airport and could easily be delayed on the flight but there isn't any option for the monthly open return just gives a same day open return.
Is there a way of booking a monthly return?
The 25% sale is only off the TPE Advance - ie specific trains - and their specific SALE booking page seems to show ONLY TPE Advance tickets with the 25% off, whereas their main booking form offers any available.

Ordinary returns are only available on some routes, and often not on SHORTISH routes.
You can use the BRFARES website to explore what fares are applicable for any particular station-station ticket.
http://www.brfares.com
SOMETIMES you can find it cheaper to buy a return from a more remote station as MOST allow for a "break of journey" and you could "break your journey" at your normal "home" station.
For those regular returns I don't THINK that TPE offer discounts on their own fares for booking via their own website (unlike their 25% off TPE Advances over a particular period, booked during a certain window), so you may prefer to use another site that eg offers £back via TopCashBack/Quidco - eg RedSpottedHanky where you could also double up some Tesco Clubcard points to pay towards the railfare (and no booking or postage fees unlike some rip-off sites!).

Thanks for the link, it seems a monthly return would be £62, one way tickets, about £8 - £12 each, looks like I'll risk it booking a specific train and hope the flights are on schedule.
What I did last time I landed at Birmingham International was have a Virgin Advance valid for about 1hr20m after the plane was DUE to land. Actually landed about 20 minutes early so I was on the platform in time for the hourly train before and was able to ask the train manager if it was OKay for me to get on his earlier train and he said 'get on' and when he came round checking tickets said it was really good to be asked (worst he could have said is NO = where I was already)!

Been looking at this when I saw the deal earlier in the week, Son needs a ticket from Lancaster to Man this Sunday, the deal brings the price down a little but ties to specific trains, extra £1.95 for usual fare allows any train on the route, he prefer's the flexibility but for those that don't there are savings with this.
Thanks! I'll have a go :).

I just tried to book a few advance fares for this week for the mornings. They're all unavailable o_o. Kinda makes me want to vote my own post cold! oO

Good point, I'd be more careful of Sunday trains than anything. I've had a few cancelled on Sundays and sadly one of them was the last train back! I was stuck at an airport and had to make other arrangements but my ticket was an Open Return, I wonder is it possible to dispute? The reason that was given was "staff unavailability" or something (this was just about a month ago).

Take the ticket back to the place of purchase if its local to you, or call them up. Explain what happened and you should get a refund, but it has to be within 28 days I think.

I don't see how this can be not hot - if you are travelling on one of the routes it applöies to, it'S an extra 17% discount.

Do you know when it expires? I have need to travel to huddersfield in easter. If you book more than 1 ticket at a time, can it be applied twice? so long as each passenger has an appropriate railcard?

Because I just searched Newcastle to Leeds with East Coast Rail and it comes up at £4.60 with a railcard, 60p cheaper than they advertise.

I think you will find the majority of these rail fares cheaper with other companies.
