Two out of eight reviews say that they break. One of those reviews said two of them broke in one holiday and half of the positive reviews are yet to use the product but say it feels flimsy. A product like this should never break no matter how much punishment they are given. As soon as it becomes detached from the bag it is pointless. How difficult would it be to make one out of plastic that didn't snap so easily? I was considering getting some before I read about the problem.

waste of time and money in my opinion
I only saw one review that said that to be fair, surely if it was a major fault it'd be everywhere? I might be wrong though, you've written "reviews", so guess you found more?
According to the reviews on Amazon, they snap off. I would say that that is a pretty major flaw!

If you've got a Lloyds TSB paid account you get free Sentinel cover, which includes free Luggage and Key Tags with a reward for whoever finds your stuff :)
I worked within an industry that receives lost luggage. Its surprising how many people don't put some details inside just in case all external items are removed/lost.

Or use the cheap option of putting a piece of paper inside your suitcase with your name, phone number (international) and email address (gmail/hotmail etc so you can check in internet cafe etc) on it then you can be contacted if it is found even overseas!

i do something similar:

create a laminated tag with your (international) mobile number and name on it!!

if you're paranoid about it coming off - attach using cable ties
