You will get £35 off any in-store product if you trade in Brink - Perfect timing for L.A Noire! Running 20th May-26th May! HMV has clarified the confusion around its Brink trade-in deal.

As reported all day (May 13th), the firm had been advertising the offer alongside LA Noire. The deal said that if consumers traded-in Brink they will get Rockstar's upcoming title for just £4.99.

The firm then later reigned on this deal and pulled its promotion, calling it a 'miscommunication'.
Now the retailer has explained itself and detailed exactly what its Brink trade-in deal is.
Consumers who trade in Brink from this Friday will get £35 off anything in-store. So £35 off LA Noire, or LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, or the James Bond Blu-Ray box set.

"All the marketing offers are around our downloadable content and blu-ray offer and not trade in deals as we felt this would over complicate the amount of offers available on LA Noire," explained HMV's RePlay chief Martin Baxter.

"We consistently offer excellent trade in deals on all new releases and in relation to Brink, we are offering £35.00 trade in on this title for a limited time from Friday this week against all product instore and not just specifically against LA Noire. Any such trade in offer has not been press advertised."

He's referring to Brink when he says that rather than LA Noire I take it.

Yes, people are finding it to be a let-down like with Homefront and a price drop is inevitable. Sounds like a good trade-in deal.

thanks for the heads up was going to trade it today but will wait now.

Anyone know if they'll give you the £35 on a gift card? Might shift a few copies of Brink and keep the gift card till I see something I want.
#7
Its currently listed at £30 on the app, so they will only put that much on a card currently. possible will change on friday.
#8
When they say "not press advertised" does this include their Replay app where it clearly states in the offers section that you can trade Brink + £4.99 in for LA Noire from Friday 20 May until Thursday 26 May and has a whopping great picture of both games in the advert??

Is LA Noire gonna be £40 in HMV? Wouldnt mind trading in Brink, only put about 10 hours into it and its getting a bit boring, just not my thing! They should of added more than 20 levels, and more of those challenges, and the story missions dont take long! Not enough content for such a hyped up game!

I pre-ordered LA Noire in HMV on PS3 and the price was stated as £39.99 including LA Confidential DVD and some DLC

I'd only be going on friday anyway lol not a bad return tbh if I get £35. Anyone know if they have limits on the number of copies you can bring in?

I'm not trying to bring in 3,000 or something. I'm thinking 3 at most, either way there's 3 branches of HMV in Belfast so I'll be fine!

Apart from Cex and Argos. Does anywhere else list what they give for games. If so can anyone kindly point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Also Amazon show trade in prices on their site and they pay postage for you to send the games to them.

Gamestation will beat any trade-in by £1 (as long as it's a store within a 1 mile radius I think) so if you look it up on CEX, Argos or HMV first then you can go to Gamestation and be quids in

You can trade Brink in at HMV from Friday and get £35 in store credit as per the deal title.
This is all confirmed

When I went into my HMV store on Friday (May 13th) they had a trade-in offer displayed for Brink > LA Noire for £4.99. Apparently Rock-star and Take-two kicked off so they pulled out of the offer. Now it seems the customers who saw the deal have been kicking off so HMV have offered £35 trade in for Brink on anything in store. I don't see why you cant just trade it in for a £35 gift card...

It's currently £30 trade-in at HMV but they'll be putting it up to £35 only for Friday (From what i've heard).

#23
thanks for the quick response. I was wondering because there is no xbox logo on the cover so they might not been able to sell it.

i traded in BF:BC2 ultimate edition without codes for £19 while the standard edition value was £6 for what is essentially the same game, they just scan the barcode. if they stock the game you will get a trade in.
phone first as they do give prices over the phone.

Hmmm cheapest I can find brink for is £31.99 at cool shop (PS3) but even the amazon are doing the Xbox version for £33.42 so if this deal does last for a week it would appear to have the potential to make a bit of proffit.

The HMV Replay app still advertises it as LA Noire only £4.99 when you trade-in Brink (I know they have amended it slightly) but the date on it is 20th March-26th March.

Traded my brink in today for l.a. noire

but the date on it is 20th March-26th March.

So it's on until the 26th?

Do all HMV's take trade ins - or only larger stores? If the latter, is there a list?

Me too! £35 credit, 4.99 taken off my gamestation xp card, 2750 points added and walked out with essentially free la noire (with naked city extra) and £6.88 extra on my xp card

Can't guarantee the date unfortunately, before Rockstar and take2 got involved it was Brink and £4.99 for LA Noire from 20th to the 26th of May. They kicked off, HMV changed it to Brink for £35 off anything, so not just LA Noire. They may or may not have changed the end date.

All the HMV's near me take games whether its a big or small branch. You can get the trade-in prices with the iPhone or Android app - HMV Replay. I think it has a list of stores, not sure where my phone is so I can't check.
