They really are enthusiastic to stop the home brewers.

Cool - good find!

Game and Gamestation are doing the half-price trade in too, but the 1gb SD card is the difference with the HMV offer.

Hot!

In what way - you can get a homebrew card for the DSi.

Hot methinks.

The DSi has upgradable middleware, like the PSP, which may be featured in every game and in digital download. Whilst this won't remove piracy, it'll make it slightly less accessible for the average Joe. Or so Nintendo think...

I'll stick with my trusty DS methinks

Buy one and a Flash card (i.e. DSTTi, or R4i) and see if you can play your "homebrew"....:whistling: Be prepared for a MAJOR backward step!

How do I know? Well, its only been out 6 months in Japan!!:-D

DS Lite club still for me for now....

The Japanese DSi takes R4i cards and they work..

Not the standard cards but there are cards being released (new ones) that DO work
I think Moonshell is actually a really good user experience, same for things like the tower defense games (also started developing on it for a project) :-D

When I say "homebrew", maybe I am inferring "homebrew from a multitude of sources"....:whistling:

As per the quotes above, YES you can get flashcards for the DSi, but the functionality available is different to that on the DS!

I think all this talk of homebrew posed the question of whether the DSi really offers anything new that's worth forking out for. The media playing features and card reading are all catered for by R4 and the like. The cameras are, as yet, pretty useless and the online browsing experience is meant to be pretty bad.

Once they release some decent downloadable games and do something clever with the cameras, I may cange my tune. For now, I'm sticking with my DS Lite.

Good deal for those who really want a DSi though.
