I'm a student from Manchester which studies in Leeds. The cheapest possible way of traveling to and from said destinations is possibly this deal I found. You must enter 'Manchester Victoria' as either your departing station or arriving station and 'Leeds' vice versa. You will be given train times in which you must scroll through and find the £3 trains. Northern advance tickets are usually available the night before at the same price so no need to book till the day before travel. The trains take around 30-40 mins longer than a usual transpenine train but considering the money you're saving if you was to take the journey often its well worth it in my opinion. Note that you must get the train you select and these are not anytime tickets. If you miss your train you will not be eligible for a refund. Overall this has saved me quite a bit of money as a the journey would usually cost around £20.

Take it you're not a student in English studies then ! '....which studies in Leeds' - might be better as '...who studies...' Not wanting to be the spelling/grammar police - just having a laugh whilst having a glass or two of prosecco ( yes indeed - overweight, drinking too much per today's press !) Hot deal and happy Christmas

Thanks for the heads up, really good information. I studied at Leeds (Northern) Film School - very happy times, excellent place. Presumably a rail card will reduce the cost even more, but what a great saving.

Deals was funny and friendly but ironically you are a student unwilling to learn.
So the least you should do is apologise for your rude reply or if that's beyond you we are happy for the ignoramuses to remain as such

Takes over 30-45mins extra not 20mins although it's more of a Scenic route than the faster route. No seat with the reservation, choose any seat. Northern advance tickets on some routes are usually available the night before at the same price so not always the need to book till the day before travel...

Seriously though, I don't see how I'm the rude one when I'm posting something to help people save money and I've got some smart-**** correcting my perfectly fine English.

garbage company , garbage trains , good price but that is all . avoid northern at all costs . run by arriva ( deutsche bahn ) so simply creaming the profits to line their own pockets while offering pitiful services . recently investigated by the government as well . also all the old management from northern rail are still in charge and we know how bad they were

I agree, the trains are pretty old and uncomfortable but I've personally not had a bad experience with them.

Whilst on the topic of cheap train tickets, I'll add that it's possible to go from Manchester to Newcastle for just £53 instead of £74 and be flexible. Besides splitting at York (I.e. Buying Manchester to York and York to Newcastle tickets), for the York to Newcastle ticket ask for a TPE only ticket, total price is £53 and although one can only travel between York and Newcastle on Transpennine, seeing most people traveling Manchester to Newcastle use the direct Transpennine service, this shouldn't be an issue. Therefore the £53 tickets are flexible as they're valid on every direct (hourly) service between Manchester and Newcastle or vice versa.

Good post and heat added. Don't worry about the HUKD tools. Just see it as a nice way to top up your ignore list.

Kieron, this thread has gone a little mad but "which" is incorrect as you now know. No need to go so mad. There will be many times during your studies and career you make little mistakes. Learn from others not your own. Good luck, we need more engineers if we want to start making stuff again!

Quite agree ! Was just trying to bring a bit of humour to the post Christmas period ! I 'two' studied engineering at University - or perhaps it should be 'too'. ;)
