HOT! Bit of advice though please, I just bought a 16Gb Play.com Class 4 SDHC card for £13.99 for my new Panasonic Lumix FZ45 camera. Would I be better off with this card and send the Play.com card back as it's not out of packaging yet? I've only had a 2gb card for last couple of years in old camera and never filled memory yet but will be taking lots more pics with new cam!

Cheers!

If you intend to use your FZ45 to record HD video you would definitely be better off with a class 10 card (assuming your 16Gb is not a class 10, high speed writing is critical for video) otherwise it depends on how you use the camera if you tend to use it in burst mode then again high speed recording is important. Otherwise your 16Gb should be fine.

We have a flipcam for HD filming but we will be using burst mode quite a lot with the camera actually so is Higher speed essential for Burst Mode? If so then I will go for this class 10?

I bought one, will send back the slower Play.com card, thanks for your help DIVVY.

It's not "essential" for burst mode. You need to understand what happens when you take a picture. Simply, the data from the sensor is written to the memory card. With a high resolution such as your 14Mp FZ45 there is a lot of 0's and 1's to write. If the card cannot keep up then the camera will stop taking pictures. In burst mode (as opposed to video mode) any interruption is less critical but still COULD cause you to miss the picture.

Your call.

Cheers Divvy I appreciate your replies, it's bought and done now anyway and I think overall as I am wanting to learn more about photography this year getting a higher speed is important, if I need more memory at a later date I can just get another one of these.

That is a great price, just ordered. Thanks OP

Ordered one of these over a week ago, still in the processing stage. Any idea how long this company take to despatch? (New camera for Christmas, need it yesterday, as it were!)

Same here!

Ordered last Monday and still at processing. Card payment has been taken. I intend to contact them tomorrow as I need the card a week on Wednesday, and allowing for Channel Island postage times etc. Can't see why an in stock item has been "processing" for 4 working days.

Me too!
No email, no way to track the order, being processed from 30th December.
Should be called '3-4 weeks shop!'

Maybe because of the rise in VAT but should not have gone up this much should be only £7.86. Good deal still.
#15
Note too that they do the 16gb version, but it's £2 dearer!
#16
many thanks

Would this be alright to use in a smartphone (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S)?
#18
Very slow to deliver. Ordered a silicone cover for ipod touch on Christmas day. Showing as despatched on 4th January, still not with me. Reckon if I ordered this from ebay, would have been through the door on th 4th.

As far as I know for all mobile devices, you need Micro SD...

Same here, and no info - emailed them today. Have used them in the past many times, but service isnt one of their better traits.
#22
Damn, wish I'd read the replies about delivery before I ordered 3!!
#23
I emailed today regarding my order made a week ago. They said it had been processed and would be dispatched "shortly", also apologised as they are very busy at the moment. Whilst was impressed at the seed of their reply they haven't really answered anyting and didn't give any indication of when it will be dispatched!
#24
I am also waiting for an item ordered in mid December, apparently dispatched. They responded to my enquiry quickly but am now a little surprised it has yet to turn up.

They have been good before though and when I saw this deal I also placed an order - but wish I'd read the threads now!

A couple quid more and you could have ordered with a larger more established website. Being tight is not always right.

I have used 7dayshop many times over the last two or three years and I have never had a problem.
However i do appreciate there are those who have had problems

Well you should count yourself lucky because the general feedback on this thread show otherwise.

Same here, I'll be requesting a refund and purchasing elsewhere now, my lad wanted this ages ago. I had the same message, its clearly a copy and paste job to anyone who asks 'where is my order'! If I dont get no joy it will be a chargeback with the credit card company. I've used them in the past, they are slow but not this slow and they dont seem bothered - for a quid or two I'd rather order from someone who can actually send me the goods before space time ends. 7monthshop more like it.

Let me know how it went cancelling.... I need the card a week today, lets be honest I'm not going to get it now. I know when you order from companies based in the channel islands things do take longer but I ordered on the 3rd January and its not even been dispached yet. Stupid thing is I have used 7dayshop before, and they have been fine (allowing for usual channel island delays). I also think its poor form to charge before despatch; especially when despatch is taking soooo long, they've had my money for 9 days now.

Mymemory have it at £8.25 via Amazon, I know they are another Channel Island company but I have had no problems with them in the past. Trouble is i don't want two cards, and I know if I order from MyMemory now, 7dayshop will despatch!

Hi Bagand, looks like I'll be issuing a chargeback with the credit card company, they are not answering emails and not interested. There is still no sign of any change, I don't think they have them to deliver, but they happily took the money. I've requested a refund a few times but they are not responding to any emails. That will be the last time I use these, have used them in the past but I'm happy now its only a cheap order and not something worth a lot more - not bothered as I'll purchase else where and the credit card company will sort it ;-)

Just logged on to My Account and to my amazement it shows as despatched yesterday! 9 days (7 of them working days) after I ordered a product that they have "plenty" of in stock.

£8.49 now. Still a good price but technically expired deal.
#35
Was looking at SD cards on Amazon and the general reviews on Transcend cards are they aren't very realiable, and tend to only last 2 years max. This may have a lifetime warranty but it won't do much good if you lose all your holiday pics...
#36
thats why its a good idea to back them up asap
