This card has been getting really bad reviews for failing. particularly when used for HD video. The 8 gig cards are fine by all accounts

Just had a look and that report seems to be talking about some previous generation class 6 Transcend cards, manufactured in 2009. These are quite different.

hmmm. As mentioned above it is the class 10. Here's links to more reviews which are varied but generally + outweighs the - especially at this pprice point.

Here's a quick test I done using Crystal Disk Mark 3 (64bit)

I ran the 100mb test for the following three cards. I know it's not ideal as the PNY is only 8gb whereas the other two are 16gb. However, all three test different class ranges.

I'll let you see the results for yourselves.

can this be any cheaper :)

Hmm. I have three of hte 8gb versions of this card and also I got one of the 16gb versions a few weeks ago.

The 16gb version actually gives a faster write speed strangely enough using the ATTO card test routine. None of the 8gb cards were fast enough to be used as a "Windows 7 Readyboost" device but the 16gb card is.

But as memtioned above by cabstar, I have had one "write error" already on my 16gb card in my Panasonic camera which I never got with the 8gb cards (which wasn't recording HD video, it was just taking a still photo...)
Cleared itself by removing and reinserting the card in my camera but it is a bit worrying...

Now I know this MyMemory branded card is a little bit more expensive (£17.99) but you do get a 5 year warranty with as opposed to the 1 year with transcend cards. Also the supposed write speeds are 23mb/s as opposed to 20mb/s for the transcend. Just thought I'd throw that one into the mix.

Sound good but the Mymemory cards have a 19mb/s write speed and 23mb/s read speed although I woul dbe keen to see if anyone who has bought these to test their actual speeds
Not bad though as you said for 5 year warranty is good value (although I would expect flash cards to be pretty durable - although not the case from some comments I've read)

I've since found out that Transcend give a lifetime warranty for their cards and the 1 year stated on the mymemory site is a 1 year warranty direct with mymemory - if it goes wrong outside of that then just make sure you keep your receipt.
