Decent enough especially if your on a tight budget like me! ;)

I'm also on a tight budget. Just spent £360 on my main components of a new build. All I have left to get now is the ssd (and vid card in a month or so) so maybe this is what I'm looking for?

Think I'll do a bit of SSD research when I finish work but if anyone has any guidelines for buying I'd sure appreciate them :)

Read an article on Kitguru the other day stating quite the opposite. After the recent price drops (MX100 Etc) the prices are due to stabilise and remain at their current level for quite some time. All speculation though.

Seems to have much lower Read and Write speeds.

Max Read: 450mb/s
Max Write: 208mb/s

Only one I can see is £41.95 for a refurb, not a new drive?

I was going to go for the Samsung Evo but decided with Transcend due to the better warranty. Samsun is 1 year, Transcend 3 year and once you have an SS installed unless you sit on crystaldisk benchmarking all day, you're not going to notice a difference.

Got a Flubit offer on this for £42. Not sure if I should bite

Samsungs are 3 year warranty. I have a brand new one sitting in front of me right now. Although i opted for the 250GB version.

How much are you willing to spend. I would not buy an SSD less than 250GB so I would recommend the 840 Evo for £90 or the MX100 for £80.

You should have bought the Samsung SSD.

Actually the speeds given in this listing are for the 256GB model. For this 128GB model, the actual max speeds, as given to me by Transcend, are 510/160 MB/s (AS SSD):

http://s30.postimg.org/83kyy1dxt/Transcend_SSD.png

Tested on the SATA II system I bought it for I got:

http://s16.postimg.org/n9hpamjdd/as_ssd_bench_TS128_GSSD340_07_08_2014_01_12_09.png

and on my own SATA III system:
http://s16.postimg.org/4v766n72p/as_ssd_bench_TS128_GSSD340_on_my_system.png

Here's my Samsung 256GB 840 EVO for comparison:

So if write speeds are important to you, you might want to pick something else, although I'm not sure there's anything much faster in 128GB.
#35
Why average use should bother about write speed? isn't 290MB/s more than enough?

Can you not read? This doesn't reach 290MB/s, only 160MB/s. I'm just correcting the misinformation in the original post.

I wasn't talking to you. So ignored.
#38
Well no, you weren't 'talking' to anyone. You were replying to my post though. (_;) Whilst falsely suggesting that this SSD manages 290 MB/s write speed, despite this being shown to be wrong in my post which was made several days before yours.

P.S. Saying you're ignoring a post when in fact you're replying to it makes you look rather stupid.

This SSD 128G write speed is far less than 290M.

290M probably for the 512G version.
